- Twin Guestroom Plus
Located on the North Promenade Sea Front, the hotel is around 15 minutes by foot from Blackpool North railway station/the North Pier.
Check-in was efficient.
Room
We received a one category upgrade from a standard room to a 'Twin Guestroom Plus'. It appears that the main difference between standard rooms and 'plus' rooms is that the latter have recently been refurbished and have a sea view.
We were allocated a room on the sixth floor.
In the room, there was a letter welcoming me as a Diamond member and 'Guest of the Day'. The welcome gift consisted of a bottle of red wine, 2 bottles of Hildon water and a plate of cookies.
The room itself was quite small.
There was no air conditioning inside the room. It was possible to open the window partially.
The room faced the north. View of the sea from the room:
Bathroom (there was a walk-in shower, but no bathtub):
LivingWell Health Club
The LivingWell Health Club is located on the lower ground floor.
The gym is open 24/7.
The indoor swimming pool/sauna/steam room are open from 6am to 10pm (weekdays) and from 8am to 9pm (weekends).
The swimming pool was tiny and quite shallow, so it was not a great place to swim.
The sauna and steam room were also quite small and would only be able to accommodate a few people.
The changing room was small and only one shower was available.
Breakfast
Breakfast is available in the Promenade restaurant on the first floor from 7 to 10am (weekdays) and from 7:30 to 11am (weekends).
We had to wait in the queue at the entrance to the restaurant for around 5 minutes on the two occasions we had breakfast during our stay (both times were weekday mornings). The restaurant was very busy as there were lots of tour groups.
The buffet consisted of cooked English and continental breakfast options.
Eggs were available made-to-order (boiled eggs, poached eggs, omelette, egg white omelette). However, the eggs were really oily.
In addition, it was possible to order pancakes and layered granola crunch (pictured below).
The bread selection mainly consisted of sliced bread. The first morning, I had to ask many times for a refill of baguettes/other types of multigrain bread. The second morning, only sliced bread was available.
Only filtered coffee was available – as mentioned by Land-of-Miles in the main thread, if you want to order espresso/cappuccino/latte etc, you have to pay for it.
Overall, the quality of food was unremarkable, but acceptable. Service was generally friendly.
Overall
Overall, we had a satisfactory stay at Hilton Blackpool. In general, service was friendly. However, given the small room size, the mediocre breakfast buffet and the tiny swimming pool, I will not be rushing to return any time soon.
