Stats

We had an overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London Heathrow Airport before an early morning flight out of Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.

As mentioned by layz in the hotel's master thread, this hotel used to be a Ramada until it was refurbished and reflagged as a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in 2012. As the hotel was renovated a few years ago, it did not feel dated.

Check In

Check-in was friendly and quick. Our key cards had been prepared in advance. We booked a twin guest room and did not receive an upgrade (as there is only one category of twin rooms). We were given the signature DoubleTree welcome cookies.

Room

The twin room which was allocated to us was clean and comfortable. As mario33 mentioned previously in the hotel’s master thread, the windows are triple glazed, so it wasn’t noisy and we slept well. The room was not very spacious, but was nonetheless fine for an overnight stay.

There were 2 bottles of water in the room, but no welcome letter/gift.

Wifi speed was good. As a Diamond member, I was able to access the premium internet service free of charge using a special access code on the key card packet.

You can take a 360-degree interactive tour of the twin room (as well as other room categories and areas) on the hotel’s official website at http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/united-kingdom/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-london-heathrow-airport-LHRCLDI/photo-tours/index.html

Breakfast

The buffet breakfast runs from 6am to 10am (weekdays) and 7am to 11am (weekends) in the 745 Restaurant on the ground floor.

As a Diamond member, the full breakfast buffet was complimentary (previously there was a GBP5 charge for Diamond/Gold members wishing to have cooked food from the buffet, but this has now been eliminated). As mario33 has mentioned in the hotel's master thread, the quality of food was acceptable, but unremarkable. There were both English and continental breakfast food options.

The staff in the 745 Restaurant were not very friendly, but were relatively efficient in taking our tea/coffee orders.

Location

We booked a minicab through the hotel front desk (GBP 18 to Heathrow Terminal 5). The journey took around 10-15 minutes. It is also possible to take the Hotel Hoppa bus (operated by National Express) or one of the local buses to Heathrow Airport - see the wiki in the hotel's master thread for more information.

Overall

Overall, this is a decent hotel for an overnight stay near Heathrow Airport. We chose this hotel as it was more competitively priced than the Hilton Garden Inn and the 2 Hiltons near Heathrow. We were satisfied with the service, room and food, and would be happy to return here in the future.
