2Q Traditional (SPG Floor)

Booked a five night stay on points for a business/pleasure trip and was very happy. Hotel was clean and in good shape, room was large and comfortable, staff was very nice and helpful, plentiful amenities made the stay more enjoyable.

Check In

Used mobile check-in to let them know we'd arrive at 1:00pm. The room was ready but their computers were down so we waited in the few chairs of the good sized, gleaming, pleasant lobby for them to check us in by hand. The front desk staff was very nice and apologetic and sent a small snack to make up for it. The hallways were well lit and their two elevators were prompt.

Room

Was put on the 6th (SPG) floor, one below the Club level. Our view was of the inner part of the hotel, but we noticed the rooms on the other side of the hall may have some view of the Disneyland fireworks. Overall the room and even the bathroom was spacious, though the armoir wasn't. The beds and desk chair were comfortable, though there was no other chair, just two small ottomans we didn't use.

The room amenities included a refridgerator, two free bottles of water, coffee and tea maker, a couple of plugs on the large desk, and an iHome alarm clock to charge iPhones. The bath amenities were not Shine and I liked them better, though the bottles were small and needed to be replenished after a couple of days. The towels seemed brand new and among the plushest I recall at a Sheraton. The AC/fan was quiet enough to not be noticed at night, though the blackout curtains left a gap that was. Overall, the room was clean and in great shape and we were very pleased.

Service

As mentioned, the front desk was very nice and helpful, and that attitude was seen from all the staff with whom we interacted. Very pleased.

Dining

We had Lounge access so only ate there. One can access the Club level with a separate card via the elevator or stairs. The breakfast buffet was good; the highlight was a waffle machine, the first I've seen in a Sheraton Lounge. The rest; eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes with grilled veggies, a few cold cereals, oatmeal and some fruit, a coffee machine and brewed carafs, TAZO teas and some juices were all very good. The breads and spreads were average and there were very few pasteries. No yogurt or other options. Mid-day snacks varied; potato chips, fruits, granola bars, tea, water and soft drinks. Evening spread had the usual; two different hot items, cheese and crackers, cut veggies, fruit. Didn't ask if they served alcohol. The lounge was decent size and the friendly attendents kept it clean and well stocked.

Location

We chose here partly because it is near the center of Orange County, around which we would be driving all week. It is a few blocks from several highways and near major roads so easy to get someplace else fast. Parking was ample even when the hotel was full, and you can find shaded spots pretty easily. There is free street parking a few blocks away but we wanted the convenience of having the car onsite.

It was nice to have a Target across the street to stock the fridge, including food to microwave in the lounge, but there's not much else in walking distance. The shuttle for Disney stops here if you need it. Harbor Blvd. traffic was pretty light, not even enough to be noticable when lounging by the pool.

Amenities

While a generic Sheraton, it was full service and all the amenities we used were very good. As mentioned, the lounge was good quality. The pool was warm and large enough to get some exercise, and the pool area is nice with sun and shade available, though the hot tub was hot!. If you can handle Windows 10 kiosk mode the computers and printing worked. They offer Disneyland tickets at a discount. There was a small gift shop if you didn't want to run across the street to Target.

Overall

Other reviews from this Spring said this hotel was in sorry shape, but it seems to have cleaned up well and seemed either heavily cleaned up or lightly renovated. The staff were all very friendly and handled all problems and requests well. We were very happy with out stay and would recommend it to anyone for which it fits their needs.
