Introduction
Decided today to present to you one of my favourite hotels , let's be honest it is not the best , but i like the place for personnal reasons
I had the occasion to attend an event there organised by accor , so thats the reason why i write this review today
I usually stay here when i need to get to airport early morning , as you have the bus stop right it front of it and journey takes 8 minutes to reach Chopin airport , but it also can be good alternative for business travellers staying near office district , if four points or hampton are not your targets
Check In
I arrived few minutes before 3pm , but room was ready , so no issues , and no queue , so everything was fine
Got drink voucher (but you will see it wont really be needed) and "upgraded" as default , but will go back to this topic later
Lobby is not the most lavish i have seen but in my case i dont mind
Further is located the Novo restaurant bar , today they will be busy with other topic
One thing i havent had occasion is to compare this novotel with an updated one , and if all executive rooms look the same everywhere
Room
Here is the welcome gift , however no card today , i booked hotel i think the night before going there , so no big deal
Room is not huge , in fact the bed takes quite a lot of space , then not much left
The smart TV advertise the restaurant bar of the hotel
Room is not huge , however the bed takes quite a lot of space , then not much left
TV on the wall is quite big , but desk is pretty small for me
Sorry i forgot to take more pixs of the room as i was busy working that time
i had a room from the court side , not the street side , so its even better to explain you the backstory
History
The first reason why i wanted to talk about this hotel is history , which is worth mentionning
It was the first novotel (and if i am correct the first accorhotel) in poland , opened in the 1970's , per initiative of the then president of poland , who was a fan of french culture and wanted to have high end hotels created in the country (remember it was during coldwar era , while poland wasnt in the USSR it was behind the iron curtain)
Accor got a deal to open this hotel and it was a pretty good deal , as all furnitures and materials were bought and delivered from france and Poland paid for it
If my memory is correct and if i understood correctly , if you go to some novotels in other polish cities , you might notice that buildings look the same , its because they were all built around same period , following same patterns
In fact i even heard some rooms in one novotel in poland , i guess in wroclaw, still has the old rooms from that era (i will need to go there and see it by myself)
The building you see downstairs are the original buildings from the beginning , and the one in which i i was and people usually stay was build in 2000's
On the left is the restaurant and conference room , and in front and right are the rooms themselves
I have never tried those rooms there but i will give a try maybe next time for fun , cause they look very old (according to the pixs i have seen)
Pool
As you saw on previous pictures , there is a swimming pool , i never tried this one due to covid
Here is a part of the small courtyard
Those data , even though from same day , are manually recorded , so weather got a bit cold and water was not so warm anymore
Pool is not that big but enough for few people to relax , you need your room card to get access
One funny detail , on the bottom you can see the previous Accor logo , from the time of LCAH
This bird is still part of new/current logo , take a look at first letter from ALL and you will see it
Spa
There is also a spa , sauna and fitness area, located underground , it was closed during covid , so i never had a chance to try
The fitness room isnt big but there are lot of devices to have fun
i havent tried the spa , but there are different types of massages available
My main focus was the sauna , but just for testing purposes , if you really want a good spa in warsaw i recommend hilton double tree (especially for gold and platinum members)
i tried for 15 minutes and then left cause i had to get ready for main event of the day
Party Time
Here we are , the main reason why i came here that day
ALL organised a party for platinum and diamond members (but not the same scale like what i mentionned last year in Raffles)
They do such thing once in a while in some countries , of course it depends on the market
There was a polish wine tasting session , and i really liked it
The food was good , it was so nice that i couldnt try everything i wanted
Now you understand why i said the restaurant will be busy today , and why drink voucher wasnt needed at all
It wasnt just a food party , cause i also met some ALL members , and we discussed and exchanged about lot of interesting facts , like the unofficial facebook group of ALL members , the crazy low prices in some soith east asian countries right after borders reopened , DCC , resort fees , ALL vs main competitors in Poland , etc .....
I also met the GM of this hotel and some employees of accor + orbis , (orbis is the polish branch of accorinvest and they manage almost all economy and midscale Accor hotels in poland)
We talked about current and future challenges , difference between franchised and managed hotels , new openings in the region , history , and so on .... i maybe heard a small name called Tribe that , if all galaxies are aligned correctly , could potentially be next accor brand to arrive in poland but its just a rumor , so if someone ask you dont know who said it .... Joke aside it is still a draft idea , and will depends on so many factors , so for the moment nothing concrete
There were also 2 musicians that day , so it was nice idea
In summary i really had a great time , i prefer this than ALL events organised in accorarena or psg's stadium in paris
