Kaanapali Alii is a residential condo property with one or two bedroom condo units. It has a total of 4 residential towers, each 11 stories. Each floor of each building has a total of 6 units. In total, it has 264 units. This is not a timeshare property.
Each is individually owned and decorated. Some owners decide to use the condos as vacation property and some owners decide to join the rental program. All owners pay condo management fees.

Check In
We drove our rental car to Kaanapali Alii. Do not use Google Map since it brings you to the Westin next door. On Kaanapali Parkway, make a left turn onto Nohea Kai Drive. Kaanapali Alii is the first turn on the right.
The welcome center is easy to find.
The fron desk staff was nice and courteous. We were assigned a partial ocean view one bedroom corner suite with a den on the middle of Tower #4. It is a nice upgrade from the base ground level one bedroom with garden view.
The bell staff took care of the luggage and led us to the condo unit.
Room
The unit is probably larger than 1,500 sfs. It is a full one bedroom condo with a separate den as the second sleeping area. There is also a separate queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. The unit can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.
The furniture is unique with each condo owner. But appliance and utensils are standard.

Service
As a residential condo property, there is not a lot of service.
The front desk (rental office) did a nice job to upgrade our unit. Bell staff was very friendly and took care of our luggage.
There was a small staffed area at the pool. It offers some water equipment rentals. It also offers beach/pool towels and free iced water.
There is also a staffed grillmaster to take care of the grilling at the property.
We did not use concierge at the property
Dining
As a residential condo property, there is no dining service.
Kaanapali is next to Marriott Westin Maui Resort & Spa and Marriott Maui Ocean Club. For pool side drinks, Westin is just next door.
Whalers Village is next door to Westin Maui Resort. There are far more dining options there. Monkeypot is right there if you get the time to wait in line.
For a 10 minute drive, the town Lahaina offers many more dining options.
Pool and Beach
Kaanapali Alii is at the middle of the world class Kaaanapali Beach. The golden beach is long, wide and fine golden sand.
Beach chairs and cabanas at beach area;
The pool at the property is very swimmable. The setting is really beautiful.
Tennis and Parking Area
The property has two parking garages. The #1 has tennis court on the second level. The #2 parking garage has two levels for parking.
Be aware that both parking garages have low clearance. Probably about 6'9". They barely fit the Jeep Grand Cherokee. There are quite some vehicle marks at the top of the garage entrance. Clearly some vehicles were damaged when entering the garages.
The #1 garage has an overflow outdoor parking area. The clearance to that area is even lower. I did not even want to try for fear of car damage.
The best option is the second level of #2 parking garage. There is plenty parking space during our stay.
It seems some condo owners have assigned parking space. Those parking space is blocked
Location
Other than the large condo living space, the best attraction of this property is its central location off the Kaanapali Beach. The location is just perfect.
Before I came to Maui, I contacted the concierge of Blue Hawaii for location advice. The lady told me that Wailea is more laid-back and Kaanapali Beach area is more active and move livable. I was taken aback and did not quite apprehend what she meant. After staying at Kaanapali for several days, now I know what she meant.
It appears Kaanapali area is more established than Wailea area. The dining options in Whalers Village are clearly far more than the dining options (if there is any) in Shops in Wailea. It appears there are also more entertainment options in Whalers Village than in Wailea area.
With a 10 minute drive to the town of Lahaina, Kaanapali have far more options in shopping, dining and entertainment than in Wailea and Kihei areas.
Overall
Overall, we love Kaanapali Alii and really enjoyed our stay there. We felt staying at our home right at the Kaanapali beach front.
With our active travel style, we do not normally stay at resort for many days, drinking and eating at the same resort. We like to explore local food and resturants.
Kaanapali is the perfect place in Maui to enjoy the sunset every day. No need to go any further. Just at the place we live. We can also enjoy the daily sunset from within our own Lanai.
We also cooked some steak and seafood we bought at the local Safeway. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy our own meal, wine and enjoy the sunset right at our pool side. And we do not have to pay anyone for all we get to enjoy.
I highly recommend Kaanapali Alii to anyone to stay there if the life style fits the travel plan. Enjoy the travel and stay.
