Deluxe King

Great property in Am Hof, steps away from the Am Hof Christkindlmarkt. Very close to luxury boutiques around. Best service experience we've had in Europe.1_IMG_1096.jpg

Check In

Check in was very smooth, albiet a little long. The staff is very diverse - American, Italian, and locals. No recognition of our special occasion upon checking in. However, our TA made the staff aware of this after check in and we were given a complimentary bottle of bubbles along with a nice card from the staff.IMG_1089.jpg

Room

We stayed in a Deluxe King on the top floor. The room was decorated in the traditional Park Hyatt feel - muted but luxurious - wood, marble, mirrors, and chrome. The bathtub had digital controls and can be finnicky at times.

We stayed on the top floor, where the presidential suite was. We learned that some Saudi prince is staying there long term while his Viennese home undergoes renovation. So everywhere we went (and everywhere everyone went), people got creepy stares from Saudis. Restaurants and spas had dedicated time and areas reserved. We talked to the staff, and they said "the bodyguards look at us weirdly too even though they've stayed here for a year now". What can ya do.

Aside from that, the only downside is that you only get two bottles of water a day. Unlike the Hotel Sacher where water and mini bar is unlimited and complimentary.

Service

Service is where I have the most to say. This was our first time renting a car in Europe, and the experience could not have been smoother. We asked the concierge Stefano about car rental options because we wanted to do a day in the Wachau valley. Stefano wrote an itinerary down for us, and offered to book the car rental for us. An employee from the rental company would bring the car to the hotel along with necessary paperwork. We would sign all paperwork at the hotel. We would then drop the car off at the hotel after we are done. It was the most seemless car rental experience. The hotel even offered to do this even though we would be staying at the Hotel Sacher during the day of our car rental.

Come that day, we walked from Sacher to the Park Hyatt and got our car. The bellman walked around the car with us to inspect for damages for the rental forms. Then off we went to a lovely day in Wachau valley. We planned for an early day back so we could attend mass at Stpehansdom, but when we got back to Vienna around 4pm, we were met with tens of thousands of protestors blocking the opernring road. We tried various entry points around the city but it seemed like the entire ring road was blocked off. So we sat in our car for 3-4 hours until the protestors dispersed.

Once we got back to the Park Hyatt, we dropped the car off at the front door. Thomas the doorman offered to look after the car and move it to a park spot once one becomes available so we would not have to do that (or pay a hefty fee for overnight parking). Rudi the concierge helped us make new dinner reservations admist the protestor chaos. By that time the city was so full of people, and the streets had noticeable litter, which made Vienna feel like Rome.

Dining

Breakfast at the Park Hyatt is always something we fawn over. The buffet spread was extensive, and there were a la carte options for eggs. Some came with shaved black truffles. Dinner at The Bank was good, but not exceptional. Drinks were simple but great.

Location

Great location in the heart of Vienna. Steps from luxury shops, Stephansplatz, and the untergrundbahn. If during advent, it is right next to the Am Hof Christkindlmarkt.

Spa

Wife says it's the best spa experience she's had.

Pool

A pretty great pool for Vienna. We loved it there. For lounging and swimming. There is enough seating for 6 people, so it'll never get too crowded.

Overall

Overall a great property with great hard products. Stefano and Rudi from the concierge team were MVPs of our stay.
