This is one of the Hyatt all-inclusive resort portfolio. Ziva is for family and Zilara is for couple only. Both are all-inclusive: room, food and all services.
It requires 25,000 Hyatt points for a couple. Additional 10,000 points for each additional guest.
Check In
We came from another resort within the hotel zone. So it was an easy transfer.
The lobby was somehow crowded. It is a busy resort. We were offered some cold lemondate while waited.
The actual check-in was not very slow. We received the key cards and the bell staff took to our room.
BUT, the room keys did not work. So the bellman had to return and got another set of keys.
Room Security Issue
During our stay, some random guests came into our room when the room was still occupied. I believe room keys were used.
We reported this to the front desk promptly. No explanation was given. We do not know if the room was given to new guests, or it was some other kind of mistakes.
Definitely this is a huge security concern. The hotel should have taken serious actions to remedy the situation. But the hotel seems only consider this to be another "mistake" or "glitch".
Room
Our room is in the pyramid "tower". It is not really a tower, but a low long building. The building itself does not have any character. It is just a large building. The room windows were facing the dolphin pool. The lobby is open, dark and smells salty ocean.
There is not much to say about the room. It is just plain and not much character.
Beach
The resort occupies the tip of the hotel zone. The North beach is short and narrow. The shore near the pyramid tower is all rock, no beach. Only the South beach is suitable for sun bathing and other activities.
Pool
The most popular pool is the rooftop adult infinity pool. It was crowded. Most guests were drinking there. It is party atmosphere.
Activities
The resort had quite some activities. Some were for kids. There was also the nightly activities, such as local dancing, swimming competitions etc.
Service
I had the feeling that, this resort so large and it needs more service staff. The room security breach is really a red flag of this property.
Bar and Drinks
The best part of our stay is the bar. The staff was very friendly and they offered specialty coffee.
Dining
There were quite a few restaurants, all included. Our experience was mixed.
La Bastille and Lorenzo: It was very hard to make reservations. It requires resort formal and require long skirt and long pants. Bermuda style resort shorts do not qualify. We did not bother.
The Moongate: average. Not impressed.
Tradewinds: again, average. We enjoyed the ocean view more than the food.
Habaneros: we had some tasty food during the rain. Some local characters.
All others: mostly casual spaces. It was fun to have so many to choose and try.
Location
This property is located at the tip of the hotel zone. The waves are very strong from the East Atlantic ocean side. The shore is also very rocky. It is good to take a walk and enjoy the wind and waves.
The South side beach is more enjoyable.
Overall
Our stay was mixed. We all do not feel like to return.
The resort offers good value with the points or cost. It is all-inclusive and you do not even have to tip the staff.
But This is also the issues with all-inclusive properties. The service is somehow lower. The food does not offer much quality. Food is just plain and we felt tired of the food after one or two days of stay. We absolutely won't stay there more than 3 nights.
I actually enjoy the drinks the most. I could try most of the cocktail drinks without big concerns of $$.
The room security breach is my main concern. A hotel can't make such big mistake.
