Another new build limited service hotel in FL. The opening was delayed a few times and if I'm not mistaken it just opened not much more than a month ago. It was highly anticipated due to weeks and weeks of consecutive off-peak availability as a cat 1 (which means 3500 points/night mattress runs) and that is indeed the price that I booked it for on our brief stopover driving from Jax to Miami. But to the consternation of many, the hotel jumped to cat 2 without warning a few weeks ago, so points redemption nearly doubled to 6500 on offpeak nights.
Check In
Easy check in. Globalist status was recognized and offered two bottles of water. Assigned to a 2Q fourth floor. I asked if it was possible to have a view of the runway, and after checking for a moment was informed that our room indeed had a runway view. (The even numbers are the way to go, and probably from the second floor up will have a clear view)
Room
Pretty standard HP room. Didn't get in until after the kids had already taken over. As you can see, pretty decent runway view. Not the best airport but if you check flightradar24 or similar you can catch a glimpse of a few takeoffs and landings. Unfortunately I didn't have time to watch for this before sundown or the following morning, so the only ones I witnessed were at night which made it difficult to capture any good images from my phone.
Dining
Breakfast was a standard HP breakfast without made-to-order omelettes.
Location
Practically on the airport grounds. About 10 minutes from the beaches and 10 minutes from I-95
Gym
Pool
Pool looked decent from afar, but due to an untimely thunderstorm we did not go.
Overall
Obviously worth 3500 points. Probably worthy of cat 2 as well.
