Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2017.
Room
The HBO wasn't working in the room -- All other channels were working fine but HBO had no sound and a picture that was occasionally skipping. We told the front desk about it, they said it should be fine but moved us down the hall. In the new room, the HBO was doing the same thing and the TV had a really bad picture which flashed and had bad color rendering. Told them that, and moved us back to the first room. They didn't seem to care about this, or tell us that they would call it in. TV is a silly thing to complain about, I know, but if I am saying something isn't working, the hotel should assure me that they care enough to look into solving the problem and not just dismiss it. I doubt we were the only ones to mention the HBO problems, this was the day G.O.T. was premiering the new season, but the staff acted oblivious to there being any issue and offered nothing more than the switch to the other room, of which, I am dumbfounded that they wouldn't have known it had a non-watchable TV.
The rest of the room was standard fare for the brand, which was fine.
Service
Usually, housekeeping seems to magically happen during the day when you leave, not so at this hotel.
First Day: We left the room at about 10AM, came back at 5PM, the room wasn't serviced yet. Went to dinner and came back at 7PM and it was serviced.
Second Day: Same thing -- left at 10AM, back at 5PM and no service. Let at 6, came back at 8PM and still no service. No service, no note, nothing--!?!
Third Day: Same as first, the room got serviced, but only sometime between 6 and 8PM.
Dining
The breakfast at HP usually suits me fine - I know I can get some mediocre scrambled eggs (usually a bit dry) but decent sausage links and toast options, but I was disappointed here.
The coffee was out most of the time and wasn't getting refreshed. It wasn't particularly busy either. One day, they served turkey sausage which was not edible. I've always noticed that turkey sausage was available on request, but that day it was the only thing served for breakfast meats..
Location
Nothing remarkably good nor bad about the location, other than that it was relatively quiet as it was off the main-high traffic streets.
Overall
Some Hyatt Places really seem to carry the water with regards to service which makes me continue to frequent the brand, but this Hyatt Place falls shorts of some basic expectations in lodging. It (and really all three Memphis-area Hyatt Places) also are more consistenly on the expensive side for the brand as well (>$150/night). Next time I am in Memphis, I am going to look elsewhere.
Check In
The front-desk person was not the most welcoming nor warm, but did the job.
