Holy wow—I was extremely impressed with this hotel.

Keep in mind, it's a tiny boutique hotel with tiny room and few amenities. If that's not your style; you won't like it (no gym / pool / etc).

That said, with that out of the way… Wow, what a perfect way to use what they've got. It's incredibly unique, stylish, and 100% memorable. And the fact that it's such a small boutique property makes the entire experience so much more intimate. The GM / owners' wife came over to introduce herself at breakfast, and we ended up chatting a bit. They themselves are big travelers and had some crazy stories to tell. If you stay there—ask her about how she ended up accidentally adopting a Mongolian princess.

The art throughout the hotel deserves a mention. It's absolutely ridiculously over the top; and yet it feels appropriate. There's framed pictures, paintings, and photographs everywhere; in every different style imaginable. The front desk is a giant gold rhino. The elevator is frame by 3m-tall silver elephants. The bar has a 2m-tall giant golden monkey. The entire hotel is draped in deep red and framed in gold accents. Oh, and the elevator… I don't even know how to describe it… there's a audio/video that plays as you go up that's just ridiculously awesome. You might think this all sounds gaudy—but it really doesn't feel that way in person. It's artistic, not tacky like an Emirates suite. This theme extends to the guest rooms, which I understand are all unique with different art.

The only amenities I always use in a hotel is the club lounge and the bar, and hôtel vagabond delivers on that too. The bar (open 'til 12) serves great specialty cocktails. The club lounge is free to Platinum members and Club level room guests. There's breakfast until 10:30am (a-la carte; food was OK) and a happy hour with the typical spread and a self-serve bar (good wine selection and quality spirits and mixer bottles). The GM said they're getting a new chef on Friday and they'll be starting a dinner service.

The staff was great. Helpful proactive service; chatty employees. They remembered us by name immediately and throughout the entire stay. I was able to call in at 3pm while still in the city to extend my stay another day with no issues.

Sorry for the low-quality pictures. Just realized I didn't take any except for some Snapchats.

Check In

Check-in is sit-down in the lobby. Quick and efficient. Explanation of the benefits.

Room

Room was small but functional. The layout gave it a feeling of having more space than was available.

Location

Everything is fairly easy to get to in 10-15min by Uber. Walkable to the hotel are some fun ethnic neighborhoods with good food.
