Exclusive Room Pine Park View

Painters such as Picasso spent their time in Antibes in between Nice and Cannes and have been inspired to create world famous works of art, so we thought it may just be good enough for us to spend the night. There are several choices here for the luxury hotel connoisseur and the Juana in Juan-Les-Pins is one of them.

Check In

The concierge and lady at the check-in have been nice and friendly.

The parking situation was a little odd. The driveway that leads to the main hotel entrance is between the pool and the restaurant terrace and is very narrow. Our actual parking spot was at the street on the other side of the hotel. Good that they had a valet who parked the car for us.

Room

The room we had was an upgrade by my SLH status to the next category called “Exclusive Room Pine Park View”.

A little higher and it would have been perfect, at our level we had one slice of sea view above the pine trees. Still fine for us.

The bathroom was newly renovated and cleanliness was good. The furnishings were interesting, but fitting to the artsy look of the hotel.

Service

They also have a cute outdoor pool. I swam a few lanes and the lemons on a nearby lemon tree always made me smile when looking up to the bright blue sky, thinking: life isn't that bad after all. Unfortunately you can't see the sea from the pool.

The fitness room is quite small and seems more like an excuse to get the 5-star category rating.

Dining

Unfortunately we haven’t tried the Michelin-starred cuisine, but we had a coffee and cake in the then empty restaurant. That was a nearly immaculate experience and I am definitely gonna try the restaurant next time. They have a very cosy terrace for you to sit under trees and sunshades.

The breakfast offered the usual five star quality and left nothing to be desired.

Location

It is not directly at the beach (other than the SLH sister hotel Belle Rive, which must be nice too, since we took a stroll down their seaside), but the beach is not far, reachable in 5 minutes by foot. We went there and got a sunbed with towels. We had to pay the normal price, although we were guests of the sister hotel.

There is a small street in front of the hotel and there are buildings next to it (something that surprised us, as you get a different impression from the hotel  and SLH websites), but, as I mentioned above, from our room the view is onto a little park and you can get a small slice of the sea above the trees. There was not much traffic in front of the hotel and during nighttime it was quiet.

Juan-Les-Pins itself is a small beach town with a beach town feeling, like restaurants at the sea promenade and shops selling beach wear. The beach is in a bay and you can see Cannes in the near distance. The adjacent town of Antibes is a little bigger and there is a Picasso museum and many cultural events throughout the year.

Overall

The Juana is a good choice in Juan-Les-Pins or Antibes, but the sister hotel Belle Rive (also SLH) is directly at the sea and seems much nicer, it's also a little more expensive. I'm gonna try that next time for a proper beach holiday and just go to the Juana for dinner at one evening. Alternatively, you can try one of the top rooms in the Juana, because they seem to have a large balcony with fantastic views.
