Stats

We stay at this property around twice a year and have come to the staff quite well. After Sharm el Sheikh and Alexandria this is where we base ourselves in Cairo because the property is luxurious, calm (most tourists stay at NP which is a very busy hotels) and because you can see the Pyramids, Nile and Zoo from your balconies.

Check In

The S Class driver was waiting on the platform at Ramses Station thanks to Tamer, the Chief Concierge, who arrange all of our travel including the train tickets, arranging a number of limousines and coordinating with the other FS properties.

We were met at the door of the hotel by a new VIP Manager who escorted us to the room. The hotel honoured our specific room requests.

Room

We booked One Diplomatic Suite and one City Suite and the hotel honoured our specific room requests.

Note that rooms up to Level 12 appear to have been renovated. I have received the Diplomatic Suite many times so will only report on the City Suites.

The suites are similar, just located on opposite ends of the building.

The suite had an entrance foyer, guest bathroom with shower, large bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and dining area as well as large balcony.

Service

The Concierge Tamer is absolutely flawless in every way. No request is too big or too small and it is with his help that all of our travel and cars are arranged seamlessly.

In addition, Farhana always greets us on every stay and it is these familar faces that make you feel like you're at home with people who truly care about you.

Dining

Breakfast in the restaurant serves a range of cuisines and they have added an a la carte menu at no additional cost for hot, made to order items.

The waiters never leave your coffee, juice or water glass unfilled and often anticipate your requests.

Fitness and Pool

The hotel pool is a great way to spend the hot Summer's days and around the pool they have built glass cabanas with TV, charging ports, air con. You can laze away the day there and order food from the pool menu or the restaurant. There's a host of pool boys who will make up the sunbeds, as well as fetch F&B.

To my delight they were directing families with children to the small pool.

The hotel also has a mixed and ladies only gym as well as indoor spa, sauna and steam rooms.

Location

Giza is convenient for the Pyramids. They have recently built a new tunnel outside the hotel that has reduced traffic jams in the area.

Most tourists stay at the NP property, which in my view the rooms are inferior and the pool as well as fitness facilities nothing like the FR.

It feels much more like boutique hotel than a busy city hotel.

In addition, the mall below boats and Emporio Armani, Bulgari and many other brands.

Overall

Overall, this was our best stay yet.

Both suites were exceptional, the service outstanding and we were able to counter the chaos of Cairo and the time we spent in vehicles crossing the city with rest and relaxation on the property.

Combining stays between the FS San Stefano and FR are the ultimate way to do Egypt.

Every single one of our preferences was anticipated or honoured and it's this kind of service that differentiates a true luxury hotel from a chain.
