King Harbour View

After some pretty challenging online reviews I stayed at this place and like to share my experience. I found there was nothing wrong with this property and in advance of my stay I did contact our friendly Hilton rep on FT saying that the other posts about this property did cause some concern.

in the end, no fire alarms, no stains on sheets, everything worked fine,

Check In

We landed at the airport at 8pm and took a taxi to the hotel. Note this is a new property so make sure the driver knows where to go and enlist the airport staff at the taxi stand for help if needed.

Our taxi fare was HKD 200 plus 30 for the toll and 10 for the bags. The train to town would have been the same and likely would have taken longer as it would also involve a taxi ride from Kowloon station. If you are up for a 10 minute walk you can elect to take the MTR to Mongkok station and walk along soy street to the hotel.

Check in was flawless, booking was ready, details in the system, we were asked about our my way preference and we elected for breakfast. As we already booked a Harbour view room there was no further upgrade available and we were allocated a room on the top floor. (20). In the end we missed breakfast as we slept in. :)

Room

The property is a Hilton Garden Inn. If you are used to the HK Conrad you are going to be disappointed. But if you know the Ibis in North Point then you know rooms tend to be small in HK.

Our room was functional and clean.  The pictures say it all. Please note I neglected to take the pictures when I checked in, so the room was used and the bed not made up :)

On the lower floors the motorway might cause some noise, as you can see from the picture my room had double glazing and being on the 20th floor we had no issue at all.

Bathroom

The bathroom is small (tiny) but functional.

a toilet, sink and a shower.

Water temperature and pressure were fine.

Gym

I did not use, but it is a nice to have. It is located on the rooftop level.

3 treadmills , 1 bike, 1 cross trainer, lose weights and another contraption to exercise :)

Pool

The place will even have a pool on the rooftop level, it is currently closed and the sign at the door stated it will open in May 2017.

Location

I like the location, walking distance from the night market, day market, food places and MTR station.

Mongkok is a bustling area.

Overall

This hotel cost me HKD 1,100 for a night. About a third of the price of the Conrad. Sure the Conrad is so much nicer, but for the money this property is good as long as they keep getting it right as they did with my stay.
