The hotel is located right off the super touristy strip which is 5th avenue. It's on Avenida 10, which is basically just one block away, as the avenidas go 5 by 5, where as the perpendicular streets go 2 by 2.

So yeah, close enough to the tourist street, but far enough to avoid the crowds and noise. However, there is a club very near by and I could hear the thumping quite well from the room and this goes on until 6AM....

The hotel is also very conveniently located within a block walking from the ADO Terminal Turistica bus terminal. All the ADO buses stop there, so it's super convenient if you want to visit Tulum, Cancun, Chichen Itza and even longer distance destinations.

Tips: for food, I would recommend walking along Avenida 10, rather than Quinta (5th) Ave. Lots of more local choices, delicious food, cheaper and you don't get all the constant haggling, which is super annoying. I know some people love it but yeah, not for me :)

Check In

Check-in was easy and smooth. I checked-in on the app but couldn't chose the room as it was the only one left it seems for this category. The usual credit card guarantee was asked, the suitcases were taken from me to be "disinfected". They just wipe them completely with some alcoholic wipes. I wanted to take them myself to the room but they insisted someone would bring them up.... right.

And then a nice attendant accompanied me to the room, "to show me the features of the rooms". But it was in fact a time-share speech.... I was no expecting this. This is my first time in the Riviera Maya so it's maybe a common thing to see with big hotels but I was completely turned off by it. As soon as we entered the room, she did not explain any "features" of the room but started giving me pamphlets about their other Fives properties and time-shares. She said she can explain everything to me and if I wanted to, they would have someone at breakfast (max 1h she said" to provide all the details and advantages. In return, they would give me a free tour to Tulum or something like that. I just turned everything down and kindly sent her away.... Suitcases arrived shortly after.

Room

I booked a 1 King 1 Bedroom Suite through the app, 1 day before check-in. The rate was USD 166.60 per night + taxes. Total for two nights was USD 399.51. This was a HHonors members rate including continental breakfast.

I was given room 112, facing the main street and the sea (but you can't see the sea, obviously from the 1st floor). The room was really big, with a kitchenette, a huge fridge, 2 complimentary bottles of water (anything extra would be charged). Big bar-top table with 4 chairs, sofa, big tv.

The room was also big with a comfortable bed but the linen smelled a bit like old sweat....

Bathroom was big as well, with a big walk-in shower and 2 sinks.

The balcony was huge, really huge. You can kind of see your neighbours though as the separations are half opened.

The Wifi was awefully slow though.... you can still stream videos and watch Netflix but it takes a while before the video becomes clear. I did a Speedtest.net test and it was only showing 2-4Mb/s so yeah.... I used the access with a "promo code", as instructed at check-in. I don't have status with HHonors so maybe that's the basic internet access, and status users get a premium access? not a huge deal but still slow :)

I'll let the picutres speak for themselves.

Dining

Ordered room-service once as I came back late from the Chichen Itza tour and was too tired and lazy to get out. The prices are reasonable enough. Had a club sandwich.... nothing to talk about it. Just average.

Breakfast was a bit of a joke though I thought. I know it's continental bfast but still. There were some hot dishes: potatoes lyonnaises, some Mexican chicken dish, beans, veggies. Some small danish and american coffee that you could pour yourself in paper cups.

At the table though you can ask for some orange juice and "regular" coffees. That's it on the first day. On the second day, someone actually came to me to bring a basket with a selection of breads which was much nicer, with some jams. Maybe I should have asked on the first day?.... but the waiter who brought me coffee and juice never offered anything.

Pool

The top floor pool was quite nice. There is a nice L shaped pool and in the back, there's a jacuzzi and another small pool with those lounge chairs built in, half-way in the water.

The music is quite loud though but it was never crowded, probably because it was raining on and off all week long.

Big towels are provided of course and when it doesn't rain, they put some kind of mattresses on top of the furnitures to make it more comfortable.

Nor hard sale up there for drinks or food. Just a spa attendant trying to sell some spa services.

Overall

I would stay here again I think, for these rates. There was cheaper rates available for their standard roms, I believe USD 110 + taxes, which was a good price for a chain hotel in that location.
