Check In

Little to no line on early Sunday afternoon. Friendly, efficient receptionist, though a bit absentminded -- he finished checking me in without providing any details about breakfast which I'd preselected as my HHonors Gold benefit.

 

Room

Nothing fancy, but met my expectations for clean and quiet. Bathroom offers good counter space and strong water pressure. Bath towels were in excellent shape; bed linens in decent shape; mattress perhaps a little more worn and more firm than I'd like, though it was acceptable and conducive to sleep.

I got 11Mbps down and 2Mbps up on in-room WiFi on a weekday evening.

Friendly faces all around.

Dining

Very good breakfast buffet in the restaurant, which has ample seating.

Breakfast in the executive lounge, a small space, is far more limited. The lounge serves food throughout the day but I wasn't really impressed.

Location

Peaceful street and neighborhood. Under five minute walk (though you have to cross busy streets) to a huge shopping mall and Underground and Overground train stations.

Overall

Given the lukewarm reviews I was hesitant about this hotel but found it adequate in all respects. Nothing screamed luxury -- in fact the hallways exude a budget vibe -- but in everything that matters, this hotel delivers.
