Short Review

Since I first started this report we have been returning 2-3 times yearly as it is a great escape from Vancouver.

I just spent Saturday night at the property having won a prize (free night in a deluxe room plus two 50 minute spa treatments) via the Four Seasons Vancouver (apparently anyone who purchased a Four Seasons Gift Card was entered into a draw).

The property is gorgeous during the summer as we tend to stay in the off-season (April/May/November) to avoid the crowds. We were upgraded to a Premier room and the stay went very smoothly. The menu has changed at 5280 and the food is better than ever. A sign of the times there are nightly specials at the restaurant which look very attractive.

The Spa treatments were very good as per usual.

We also went out into the Village and dined at Il Caminetto (since my favourite Trattoria di Umberto is now closed at lunch) and at the Bearfoot Bistro as they were having a $39, three course prix fixe dinner. Il Caminetto was a tremendous disappointment -- I felt that I can cook better italian -- but Bearfoot was like an epiphany. The best service in a fine dining restaurant I have seen in Canada and simply outstanding food.

All in all, a wonderful get-away from Vancouver.
