Short Review
I had a disappointing experience at the FS Georges V. But I must be an exception to the rule, since I routinely hear the sort of rapturous reports about it that you've seen cited in this chain.
The disappointment started with the lobby, which prominently displays faux Sargents--and not even especially good reproductions--on the walls, rather than original artwork. Tacky.
I booked one of the larger, more expensive rooms, with a small balcony, and I felt it was under-decorated. Tasteful, but underwhelming.
The fabled concierge team under-performed throughout my stay: I asked for the address of a store, and they told me that there was only one such store in Paris and that it was closed; later that day, I stumbled across the store, and it was open, and was one of several outposts in the city. I asked for some museum info and they perfunctorily provided it without offering to help with tickets; I arrived at the museum and the line out front lasted for an hour in the January cold; other tourists whose concierges had been more proactive were able to skip the line entirely and go straight to the box office to pick up their booked tickets.
I called room service and asked for alcohol to be removed from my room. It never was.
Check-in and check-out were fairly brusque, not warm and welcoming.
The spa is very accomplished and beautifully decorated; I highly recommend it. And of course the food at Le Cinc was excellent.
But overall, I was disappointed, and haven't stayed there since. The service at Le Meurice when I stayed there last spring was much more warm and friendly, even if the physical property isn't as polished as the Four Seasons.
So the FS Georges V is not at the top of my list of best city hotels--pride of position there belongs to Zurich's astounding Dolder Grand.
Hope this is helpful--
