Stats

We recently returned for two nights and despite being Winter we had a wonderful stay.

During Winter the beach and outdoor pool is closed to guests, but there is an indoor pool and the uninteruppted views of the Mediterranean remain outstanding.

The hotel is also continually upgrading the property. They are building another pool by the beach and extra suites on the beach. It is clear that the owners believe into continuing to make the property better through continued investment. Each time we return there are new restaurants or areas that add to each stay.

Check In

The driver met us on the train platform directly outside our train carriage and we were whisked to the hotel for private in room check in.

Room

We booked one Seaview Suite and one Seaview Room. The suites are large and well furnished with large bathrooms. The rooms are half the size of the suite but have a similar outlook and are still spacious.

Service

The service at this property is always outstanding and staff anticipate your needs before you ask. One example is always ensuring we have the same table at breakfast each day, or extra Nespresso pods.

Dining

On the first night we were craving a local dish, Koshari. Nader wanted to make sure that it was made to our standard and had the Executive Chef call us to ask what our precise preferences were. This is the first stay where I have spoken diretcly to an Executive Chef for a meal made to order.

Breakfast remains outstanding with fresh Mango juice. I wasn't feeling well so asked the waiter for hot water, fresh Ginger, Lemon, Chilli, Mint and Honey. I was surprised when on the second morning he delivered the same home made remedy (given to me  by a property in BKK) without me asking. This wasn't simply remembering a coffee preference but quite an involved concocution. I was very impressed.

If taking the train from Cairo, which is the easiest option available, I would highly recommend having picnic boxes arranged for the journety.

Gym & Spa

The gym is large and the spa facilities great, especially during Winter.

Overall

Overall, this remains one of the best hotels in Egypt if not the FS footprint. Fresh flowers adorn every public area as do art and sculpture. The rooms are beautifully furnished and you hardly see any other guests except at breakfast.

The San Stefano complex is enormous, with a large shopping centre, over 2,000 apartments, but the hotel only has 150ish rooms all in the centre of the building with the best views. There is a direct door from the lobby to the shopping centre but this is now locked and only opened on request.

The team, especially Nader, always look after us and we will definitely return.
