Location

The only main reason to stay at this property is the 3-5 mins walk back to the terminal for late arrival or early departure flights.  Other than that it is about 2-3 mins walk to the metro station for the train down to Athens.

Check In

Arrived late in the evening and the check-in area was moderately full with guests checking in.  Seems even though with 3-4 associates processing people, it was still rather slow moving.  On average it takes them about 5 mins for each guests and I guess due to my luck, those in front of me were taking longer time due to them having lots of questions back to the associates.  Anyway after a 15-20 mins wait, I was helped and I went off to my room.

Room

Without any status, I was given a standard superior room.  The room was a corner room, so it could be more spacious (my first time staying at this property- so no comparison to other superior rooms).  The room was quite dated and of moderate size.  There was quite a large writing desk.

Bed was comfortable and pillows were good.  The internet was complimentary with good speed and signal.  They did have tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Bath room was on a smaller side with quite a unique design.  There was a bathtub within the walk in shower.  I believe that you could make it into a sort of wet sauna area if you have the water temperature high enough.  Anyway, water temperature and pressure was good.

Dining

I had a evening buffett meal at the main restaurant.  The selection was ok with soups, salads, meat and pasta dishes.  There was about 3-4 different hot mains to select from.  Food was tasty even in a buffett style and seems fresh.  The desserts were rather good with quite a number of choices to select from.  The wine selection was quite good with reasonable prices for a hotel and Greece.

Breakfast was also served in the same restaurant.  The breakfast spread was good with 4-5 different main hot dishes and eggs to order.  The juices on offer seems to be quite good with some of them fresh - especially the orange juice.  They had a few traditional Greek breakfast dishes which is nice.  They had a selection of barista made coffee at no additional charge which is nice.  As usual, the selection pastries and cakes were very good and lots of different ones to select from.

Service

Service level at the hotel especially the front desk associates were very good and friendly.  The associates at the main restaurant were also friendly and efficient.

Overall

All in all, not too bad of a hotel.  The only reason for not staying here is the above average price which I am sure is due purely to it's location.  I would say it is not a full luxurious Sofitel as you would expect, but more leaning towards a Pullman hotel - most probably because of the dated interior.   Too bad that there are limited decent hotels (besides the Holiday Inn - about 5km from the airport) which is why the asking price is so high even booking months out ahead.
