Check In
Partial view from the welcome pavilion
We are thrilled to be back at Nemu after a pleasant drive with the trees still fall foliage colours !
Quickly whisked by buggy to our suite after lovely warm greetings by Yoshi san & team at the welcome pavilion . Hisayo san is still away as she had earlier informed us .
As usual check in formalities was efficiently done in our suite
Room
Was beautifully set up with welcome tall bottle of tomato juice , fruits , “ decorations ” for the occasion .
Before I forget to mention , our patterns / requests from the previous stay ( and / or our Aman portfolio since the ‘ 80s ) were duly noted and followed through :) , Aman style plus Japanese precision !

Dining
Our meals have been delicious .
As usual , requests were ably met including off menu suggestions executed expertly with creativity .
Photos and more comments will be added after comparing with earlier mini report from spring stay .
The kitchen has various specialist chefs dedicated to their areas of expertise .
For example , they have a Chinese chef from a top restaurant from the city . He did a mean crab / lobster fried rice . Off menu .
Comparable if not better than the best Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong or other cities with excellent Chinese restaurants .
English by many serving still rather lacking .
Service
As before during the spring trip , service is about flawless .
We had a day trip to the fish market , village , beach , etc in one of their vehicles , all complimentary
Also driven by Y , Hotel Manager , to their pier by “ buggy “ . We thought she was kidding but it was close by enough & fun in the cool .
This was to take one of their boats across the bay for our Amahut lunch of live seafood being grilled at our table by one of the divers in her 60s .
Amanemu from the bay on one of the smaller Amanemu boats
Note how the suites blend into the landscape
Location
We liked the location being easily accessible by road from Kyoto . Seems like many from nearby , like Nagoya , come for weekends . There were a few of these when we stayed .
Also being in a park and having the suites / villas on the ridge afforded good views and seemingly remoteness .
One can see numerous fishing boats during the day . Some of these were going to check on the various farms - variety of fish , oysters , seaweed , etc .
Lovely viewing sunrises & sunsets from many spots on property besides the locals going about their daily activities .
Onsen and Spa
As in April stay , we did sessions at the not to be missed spa . Some photos were also posted in the earlier mini trip review .
Enjoyed another private onsen with fall foliage colours and beautiful weather .
Also a couple of relaxing watsu / hydrotherapy and massages along with complimentary daily exercise - these changed each time ( “ stretching “ , pilates , etcetera )
To be honest , I only had time for one of the daily exercises and others too must be busy otherwise too - as I had the huge room to myself :)
Nemu has specialist therapists

Supermoon from onsen , forgot to take a shot when it was just above tree line
Amahut lunch
Cruised by little villages enroute
Almost there !
Outside our hut
Inside the hut with our ama grilling our lobsters
Our lobsters , the pots you see keep the rice warm
Our fish tasted better than it looks , felt rather bad seeing these clams ..
Since we did not make this lunch prepared by specialist divers in April , we made it a point this time .
It was good thing too , as the hut we were in was not ready then and is built for Nemu to meet her buyout events like weddings . This one has tables as you see while the others necessitate sitting on the “ ground “ .
We had freshly caught fish , lobsters , different shellfish , soup , etcetera . Catch was not by our cook diver who was only cooking that day , but by another ama diver .
Trying to add photos in vain , attempt later .
Managed , like after more than 10 attempts as some disappeared :( !!
