After our stay on the north coast of Tenerife, we made our way to the south side of the island, and spent a few days at Alua Atlántico Golf Resort. This property does feel like a proper resort as opposed to just a "hotel".

The crowd here skewed much younger, with many kids and young couples - mostly Brits and Spanish tourists, but even saw a handful of Americans.

Location

This resort is located in the Golf de Sur development, with a number of other hotels, condos, and resorts. There's not much in the immediate vicinity except for a few restaurants and convenience stores, as well as a marina with boat tours, rentals, scuba, and submarine operators.

It's very close to the TFS (Tenerife Sur) airport - 15-20 min depending on traffic, and 20-30 min from the larger resort towns of Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. A free shuttle is available for those without a car. Free parking is available, but the lot does tend to fill up in the evenings.

Be aware that there are only a couple streets in/out of this development, and there's often traffic when trying to get to the highway.

The nearby beach is under "redevelopment", which is running way past schedule. All work appears to have been put on hold, and there are holes in the fence allowing access to a small cove. Wouldn't recommend swimming here.

There's a nice seaside path lined with restaurants if one is tired of the buffet, or just wants a nice evening stroll.

Check In

There was a bit of confusion during check-in as to the club access, but it was quickly resolved, and just as with Alua Tenerife, we received "My Preferred Club" benefits. At this property, the club is actually pretty nice, with self-serve wine and liquor. We also received a bottle of sparkling wine delivered to the room along with a Nespresso machine, robes, and slippers. I belive those are not included for non-club guests.

Room

We booked a base suite at this property (listed as just a "Suite" by Hyatt), but received an updgrade to the Oceanview Suite in the family building, with a great view of the Atlantic.

The suite was very spacious, and had separate sleeping spots for the kids (couches were made into beds), which was greatly appreciated. There were two TVs - in the living room and bedroom, as opposed to a single one at Alua Tenerife, but only a couple English-language channels.

The beds were still very firm, but way more comfortable than the concrete slabs at Alua Tenerife.

A word of caution - Wi-Fi service is very poor at this property, and most of the time, we had to rely on our cell phone roaming. I could not even get my laptop to connect to the network.

Unfortunately, I did not take any inside photos, but these stock ones are spot on with what we received:

Dining

This property appears to only sell all-inclusive rates, which include access to the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as drinks at the bars (two pool bars plus the main lobby bar), and snacks by the pool.

The food at the buffet, while still not gourmet, was leagues above what was served at Alua Tenerife. The grill station still didn't season anything, but the rest of the food did have flavor, and there were plenty of choices. The fruit station had delicious persimmons most days... mmm, and some of the desserts were really good.

Self-service alcohol at the buffet included beer, red, white, and rose wine, and red sangria.

The buffet was reasonably busy, but not as crowded as at Alua Tenerife.

Service

We called this the "Aldi" resort - there's a deposit for everything! Pool towels work the same way as Alua Tenerife - 10Euro cash deposit per towel card that can be exchanged for towels by lifeguards. But in addition, pool bars used tokens - you had to bring your cup back to get another drink - this did result in fewer empty cups rolling around on the pool deck though!

Other than that, the service was reasonably friendly, and housekeeping was excellent!

Overall

This is a nice budget resort that ticks off a lot of boxes. You definitely get your money's worth here, and it has a nice resorty vibe. If we come back to Tenerife, this would be our pick for an inexpensive functional resort.
