A solid hotel, but prices can be steep

Location

The hotel is located on about 5 mins from the airport, and about 10-15 mins to Albany (depending on where you want to go).  It is located next to the I-87 and on Wolf Road which has a lot of different establishment of different types.  Therefore it is actually the location is rather solid.

Check In

I arrived late and therefore helped immediately.  Since I do not stay in Homewood Suites too often, when I was not offered my Elite amenities, I totally forgot to ask about it and did not bother anymore after getting to my room.  I did remember to ask for a room not facing the I-87 (due to previous experience of noise) and I was lucky to get one facing the inner courtyard/Wolf Road.

Room

Room was OK in general with OK space.  I guess it is not easy to fit a room with a near full kitchen facility, dining area and sitting area.  For those needing more space, they do have a larger suite with a separate bed room.  The room I had was a Studio suite.  

Bathroom area was ok, with a walk-in shower.  

Bed was comfortable and internet speed was ok.  One very nice thing of the room is the central climate unit which was on the quieter side - not like the usual industiral loose units where you have a heavy blowing fan.

Kitchen facilities were good, with pots and dishes and other amenities to cook available.  Only improvements would be if they had at least a small cooking/frying pan and a washing sponge (which according to the hotel, does not provide and you were expected to use the small towels provided as a washing sponge).  I guess they did expect you to use the dishwasher, but that is rather ridiculous if you only have 1-2 plates or a couple of items to wash - not very environmentally friendly.  

Dining

Breakfast offerings and service was good.  It was a mix of Hampton Inn and Doubletree offerings.  

Social evening offereings, from Monday-Thursday, was quite solid for this property.  The variation and quality was above my expectations.  One of the better social evening offerings compared to other similar type of property and much better compared to what Residence Inn's offers.  

Gym

The equipments were standard as to most properties of this type.  Only complain was the inbuilt entertainment systems on the equipments were working 50%, quite a number of options had only sound but no picture or picture but no sound.  Also some of the headphone connections on the equipments were not working well.  Luckily the equipment itself worked OK.  Did report it but during my stay duration nothing was done to fix it.  

Overall

In general, an above average property.  In general staff were helpful, some more customer oriented compared to others.  Only some mid-minor improvements to different facilities needed, e.g. the gym items, in-room items.
