Stats

I had an all-too-brief one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Feeling incredibly under the weather from my trip to Cuba, I was thankful for the absolutely amazing service this Diamond was offered while on property.

Check In

Check-in was a bit swamped, with only three people working the desk. I was in the Diamond line, and was escorted to the front of the "regular" line, much to the chagrin of those without status. A woman was wondering why I would be able to cut her (despite me being in line longer than her), and the check-in agent apologized for that woman's behavior, which wasn't necessary but very appreciated.

The lounge was closed during my stay, so I was compensated 2,500 Hyatt points. Great news for me, as my fever would keep me bed-ridden the entire stay. She offered breakfast down in the restaurant in lieu of lounge access, but I stated I had an early flight. So, she walked me over to the grab-and-go kiosk near the restaurant and let me pick out anything I liked for breakfast tomorrow, which I could store in my mini-fridge. AMAZING service, and just an incredible welcome.

Room

I was upgraded to a Miami Suite, which was greatly appreciated. Essentially one large room, there would be plenty of space for a family of four (2 in the King, 2 in the pull-out. The TV was smartly placed in the middle of the room on a swivel, so one could change angles depending on where they were situated in the room. The room itself felt refreshed. The bathroom, however, could use some TLC. The toilet flush wasn't working great, and the shower area could use some renovation. Other than that minor gripe, the room was great.

Service

As I mentioned above, the service was incredible. Despite refusing the welcome amenity, I was still sent up a fruit bowl and two waters. Every effort was made to make my one-night stay a comfortable one.

Location

I felt that this location would be great for those trying to explore downtown and Brickell, as there's a Metromover stop right across from the hotel. Additionally, it's easy to get to on public transit from the airport.

Dining

As I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast, I can only say that my fruit bowl from the grab-and-go station was very nice!

Overall

Excellent stay. Would not hesitate to stay again. The combination of great service, great diamond recognition, and a clean bed meet all my requirements for an excellent business hotel. I would even say that this hotel could work for those about to get on a cruise, as it's close to the Port of Miami. While I like staying on South Beach when I come to Miami, I am being drawn more and more to this part of town instead.
