Luxury Club Millésime Room

I stayed here previously in 2014 and 2015. The first stay was average and the second stay had some improvements, thus, I decided to give the hotel another try and book again at the hotel as I was looking for a place to relax in Bangkok and I wanted good service.

Check In

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by concierge and bell staff and upon a short confirmation of our booking, we were whisked up to Club Millésime for a much more "personalised" check-in. When we exited the elevator, we were immediately recognised and greeted by the club staff as they did remember as from our previous stay. It was good knowing that familiar faces would be taking care of us.

Prior to our arrival, I requested if we could get the same corner room like we did in our previous stay and our request was met. We booked a Luxury Room ( 37m²) and got upgraded to Luxury Club Millésime Room (40 m²) as per Le Club Platinum benefit. We also got early check in at 10am and late check out at 3pm as per Platinum benefit too.

Room

Our corner room was located on the 29th floor (2901). To our delight, majority of the rooms has been refurbished since our last stay and the carpets have been changed to a nicer red design which gives the room more of a warmth feel to it. The room was well appointed with the usual Sofitel MyBed, large work desk, comfortable sofa, excellent Bose sound system, fully stocked mini bar and a huge bathroom with Hermés/L'Occitane bath amenities.

In addtion, the hotel now offers a sleep menu.

Service

The service here has vastly improved from my last stay. Not to say they were bad during my last stay, but the hotel actually "WOW" us this time.

For example, whenever I check into a hotel for a stay, I tend to post a photo on Instagram on the day of my arrival. In this instance, I did and within 1-2 hours after my posting, when I when back to the room, the hotel placed abox of Macarons, a Sofitel luggage tag and a letter from the Director of Rooms (with her namecard) stating that she loved my picture. That was something that amazed me immediately, within 1-2 hours after my posting, they were able to track down the guest that posted it and place a token in my room. That was the first "WOW" factor.

The picture above is the picture I posted on Instagram. The picture below was the gift I got from the hotel. (Box of Macarons and Sofitel luggage tag)

Secondly, when we entered the room after dinner, the welcome amenity was placed in the room. A small fruit plate in this case.

My mother and I felt this was quite terrible especially since we were Platinum members and if this was the welcome amenity for Platinum members, I know my fellow Flyertalk members who has Gold and Platinum status would agree with me that this was terrible. Thus, I decided that I would feedback this to the hotel. Just nice than, since I had the Director of Rooms(DOR) namecard with me, so the next morning I proceed to Club Millésime and requested to see if I could meet her.

Once I met her, I thank her for the gift she gave me for the Instagram photo and told her how amazed I was by the initiative and how fast they reacted. She then revealed to me that actually, this was the first time the hotel has ever did it for a guest as she really loved my picture. So that of course amazed me.

I then moved on to the topic and explained how I felt abit displeased about the welcome amenity and told her that this was just feedback and did not expect any service recovery as this was pure feedback. She then shared with me that her team is currently reviewing the amenities being given as she herself has also received some feedback in the past days. Thus, I was quite satisfied with her reply as she assured me that a new welcome amenity will be implemented soon.

Thus, all was well, so my mother and I proceeded on with our day. When we arrived back to the room in the evening, we were surprised beyond expectations by what DOR did. She placed a whole new welcome amenity in the room and stated on the letter saying she wanted my opinions on how this would perform as a welcome amenity for Platinum members as this was one of the options they were considering on. A far upgrade from a fruit plate I must say :p So in this instance, this was considered the second "WOW" factor.

Dining

As usual, I only dined at Club Millésime for breakfast, so I cannot comment much about breakfast at the main restaurant. The buffet spread at Club Millésime is relatively small compared to the main buffet however quality seems to be the key here. The main breakfast items will be done "À la minute" while the usual salads, cereals, breads and cold cuts will be placed at the buffet. The mains were of excellent quality as with the buffet items.

The main highlight of my Food & Beverage experience was the Voila Sunday Brunch. I decided that after 2 stays, I had to try the bruch. All I can say is that it earns nothing less than a 5 star rating from me. A true Sofitel "Magnifique" experience. The food was so delicious that I wanted second helpings of almost everything. The buffet has 9 stations ranging from fresh seafood, freshly baked pizzas, Á la minute hot dishes and signature Thai. In particular, the Lobster Bisque was divine and so delicious, I even had 3 helpings. But had to stop after imagining that I still had other dishes to try. I shan't explain anymore and will let pictures explain itself

Club Millésime

Weather for business or pleasure, Club Millésime is the place to be when you are staying at the hotel. It offers guests a place to relax with views over bangkok (Level 31). Service here is top notch (as expected) with smiles all around. Staff here ensure that you are very well hydrated by making sure that everytime you step into the lounge, they would ask what you would like to drink.

I'll let the photo speak for itself. The first 2 photos are afternoon tea spread, the rest are evening cocktails.

Pool

The pool here is amazing. A calm oasis in Bangkok as the pool is located on the 9th floor, away from the bustling streets of Bangkok. The only sore eye at the moment is the construction of the Hyatt Regency next door. Don't worry, you can't hear any construction in the room but you can at the pool. But other than that, once construction is done, all should be good.

Overall

Overall, I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends and family. I had such a wondeful stay that when I was checking out, it was like I was being dragged out of my second home. I will definitely be coming back for sure. Its only a matter of time.
