Stats

At the tail end of 2022 I stayed at the cosmo for a work conference. Overall, a great hotel to stay at, built on the parcel of land where the New Frontier Hotel and Casino used to be.

Check In

Check in area is busy, but well lit and quite appropiate for the mood that the cosmo wants to set. If you are Marriott Platinum or higher, or if you have identity rewards gold or above, you can use the private check-in area which has a much shorter line. This area used to provide coffee and refreshments, but that amenity was stopped for covid and has not since restarted. The staff will give you water to take up to your room, though, if you ask.

Room

I was provided an upgrade to a room in the Chelsea tower, on a medium-high floor, albeit on the wrong side of the building. If you are titanium or above they will move you to the boulevard tower if you ask, but for platinum guests there will be an upcharge.

The two queen bed rooms are very spacious and pretty well lit, although lighting around the table needs some work. The network is decent enough for you to get some work done, which is saying a lot for a casino, especially when you compare it to the properties across the street - I've gotten an unusably slow 5mbps and below at Caesars properties.

Location

The centre strip location of the cosmo can't be beat - you're right across from the Bellagio and its world-famous fountains, and across the street from Planet Hollywood, Paris, and Ballys (soon to be renamed to Horseshoe). You're close enough to everything worth doing on the strip.

Dining

There are a lot of restaurants inside the Cosmo, from breakfast at Eggslut to dinner at Momofuku, dessert at Milkbar. There is a food court of sorts where you can find cheap enough eats, although it is not open 24 hours. Secret pizza is worth a visit, lines are super long into the evenings. If everything is closed and you're looking for food, Earl of Sandwich across the street operates 24 hours, and there is Chick-fil-A also across the street if you get the craving.

I didn't particulary enjoy the Wicked Spoon buffet, I found it not to be the best value and the food very average for an above-average price. The line for the buffet is also very long if you just walk in.

Gambling

While this trip was for work, when in Vegas, you have to check out the gaming floor.

Cosmo seems to cater to slot players, there are a lot of machines of every varierty scattered around the floor. The high-limits slots area is very well marked and can be found easily on the gaming floor.

I'm more of a table games player, they have the usual assortment of carnival games, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, Three card poker, etc. Blackjack is almost universally 6-to-5, which you should never play. Craps minimums 25, field pays 2x on both the 2 and 12, strip odds. There is a high-limit room which hosts baccarat and other table games upstairs.
