I edited my post, 10K over 10 months would not be a big deal for me as I use this card for 8x gas and 5X utility but I can see it being an issue.

Just get the 75K personal card for spending $1000.

My wife and I got 90K each for getting the business card, it was either a $3k spend or maybe even a $1k.

We both churn the earner plus ~ every other year but I won't mess with the business card as I get too much value ( Caesars Diamond and 8X gas plus 15K points for the $95 AF) to risk not being able to get the card back if I closed it.

So I take it the fine print saying you can only get the bonus once on each of the Barclay Wyndham cards is not actually enforced? I came here hoping to find that. I’m about to finish my spend on the Earner Plus and want to get the Earner next, but only if there’s a decent chance I can get the Earner again when/if it ever goes back to the 60k welcome bonus. Already have the Business and, like you, probably won’t risk it with that one anytime soon.

Is the one card at a time rule in the terms and conditions, or will Barclays just block your application from going through if you already have an earner card? Iím about to finish spending on the Earner+ and was hoping to get the regular Earner next.

No idea but I once cancelled a NAF earner and 3 weeks later was denied the Earner PLUS, the denial letter said I already had this product.

I called, explained I didn't have that card anymore and was approved.

Going forward I'm waiting at least 3 months after I cancel before I apply but since my wife also churns these card I'll probably stay on getting the ~ Earner plus every other year.

Don't forget Barclay also has some sort of 5/24 rule

Have you tried holding both the no AF Earner and the Earner+ at the same time? Thatís my goal. Sorry for all the questions!

I wonder if I can

Month 1 apply for Earner+
Month 11 apply for Earner (or whenever 60k offer comes back)
Month 12 change Earner+ to Earner

... wait a while

Apply for new SUB on Earner+

I don't really like cancelling cards

I donít either, ideally. But Iím almost 100% sure Barclays wonít allow you to hold two base Earner cards at once. It sounds like they might not even allow you to hold both the Earner and Earner+ at once, but I havenít been able to figure that out for sure. I may just give it a try in the next couple weeks.

T&C for Earner Plus doesn't say anything about Earner
T&C for Earner doesn't say anything about Earner Plus

They do have PC/upgrade offers https://travelwithgrant.boardingarea...upgrade-offer/

sounds like a lack of DPs

I can assure you that you can't have a open Earner and Earner Plus card at the same time...........this is exactly why I was denied ( written in the letter I recieved) and then after an agent looked at my account he approved me as my Earner card had been closed weeks before I reapplied but had not updated in the system.

As far as closing cards, as long as you keep then close to a year it won't have any impact on your credit score, my wife and I have been churning cards HEAVY going o 20 years and both have plus 800 FICO.

If you want to play the churn game these days you have to close cards as it's different today than years ago when you could have say 5 open Hilton Card, 5 AA, etc..........I'm pretty sure no banks today allow you toget approved for a card you already have.

We do have some cards that we don't churn and keeping those open helps your credit score.

This is the exact text the person who wrote that article left.......

Since there is no upgrade offer to earn bonus points, you would probably be better off applying for this card as a new card. If you still want to continue with the online upgrade, click the Yes, I Accept button to complete the product change.

Thanks for the clarification regarding your denial, guess Iíll just stick with the Earner+ and Biz for the time being. Iím currently racking up IHG points anyway so will probably just continue that. The current Southwest Biz card is looking great right now too for a companion pass to help us get to those Wyndham/IHG destinations.

And I saw the same thing as you regarding the upgrade, definitely no bonus offered. Would be a waste of time/points for anyone to upgrade instead of doing a new application.

Wait until November to get the cards for Southwest Companion pass, if you get the 135k after 1/1/2024 CP expires 12/31/2025 or almost 2 years.............if you get that business card now by the time you get the 135K points you will probably only have CP for 15 months until 12/31/2024.

BTW, I never tested how fast you can churn a EARNER card, you may be able to cancel your earner plus today and in 3 months get the earner plus again.

Every year or so works for us.

Turns out Fi coded as "Digital Goods - Game" this month, while previously it was mostly "CABLE, SATELLITE, AND OTHER PAY TV/RADIO SVCS", but I've also seen it code as "TELECOMMUNICATION SERV.INCLUD. LOCAL/L.DIST. CALLS,CR CARDCALLS" (both got 5x).

Same thing reported in this Reddit thread 4 years ago and fixed itself the following month. How random. Hope self-fix this time too.

^ Fixed itself. New month, Fi is back to "CABLE, SATELLITE, AND OTHER PAY TV/RADIO SVCS". Guess I'll just have to accept the random occasional 1x.
