Ramada Kuala Lumpur Central City financial hoo-ha

Using the on-line facility on the WyndhamRewards website I booked a recent stay at the Ramada Hotel & Suites, Kuala Lumpur City Centre . The total cost of the stay was shown separately as 'Room' and 'taxes and fees'. The webpage asked for my credit card number to guarantee the first night's stay [in the event of a No-Show"] Three days before my arrival the hotel charged my credit card with the full amount without my knowledge or permission. (I wanted to pay in cash at check-in) .At check-in the Receptionist asked me for a MYR200 'security deposit'. He stated that it would be refunded in full at the end of my stay. At no time did he mention that there would be an additional MYR10 daily charge for 'Tourist Tax'. At check-out the Security Deposit was refunded less the Tourist Tax. The hotel manager told me that the credit card debit in advance of my arrival was to "guarantee the whole stay".despite what was shown on the booking form. The Tourist tax should have been included in the 'Taxes and Fees' section of the booking form. The whole episode smells of sharp practice.

That tourist tax is relatively new and only applies to foreigners, so many hotels tack it on manually at the end of your stay.
ive even had one Marriott try to charge it in a reward stay. Unless hotels integrate this new policy into their global syatems, you'll continue to have those issues
But it's nothing malicious, just poorly implemented new law...
