Days Inn vs Travelodge

Given the choice of the two in the same city - is there a difference in quality?

I just stayed at a Days Inn and it was alright...nothing special....although I had just spent the night at a HI Express which was much better.

Just looked at the photos...Days Inn seems to have a microwave and mini-fridge and somewhat nicer furniture than the Travelodge. That's what I could discern. Same price...so I guess I'll go with the Days Inn.

Indeed, the differences between these two brands at specific properties can be much greater than the differences between these two brands in general. So you have to look at pictures and amenities list like you did (and perhaps at reviews) of the specific Days Inn and the specific Travelodge.
