Earning points with group rate?

Earning points with group rate?
I'm attending a workshop that's paid for by a university in a few weeks, and they've made hotel arrangements; they booked me and a number of the other attendees into the same Wyndham hotel, and I was told they got a good rate on it. What are the chances I'll be able to earn points for the stay? Or would it be ineligible for points because it was booked at a group rate/the university received a discount?
