Non-liquid/non-gel toiletries and makeup products
I figured it would be useful to have a thread to collect tips on, and links to non-liquid, non-gel alternatives to traditional toiletries.
Please only use this thread to add to the list; there's plenty of other places to talk about how awful it all is. Also, I have no idea if TSA will actually allow any of this stuff in carryon, because I haven't tried. hair gel strips Listerine strips powdered mouthrinse tooth powder deodorant crystal solid shampoos soap leaves |
Helpful list - thanks!
I have always been a fan of traveling with Olay Daily Facials dry cleansing cloths. I guess I'll have to rely on these more. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is moisturizer...if only there were a dry moisturizer around! |
Comodynes cleansing cloths are pretty moisturizing.
I'm thinking drugstore.com needs to come up with a store devoted to TSA friendly products. I know that some companies also come up with self tanning towelettes. lala |

Doing great ladies.
I did a search on towelettes on drugstore.com, sunscreen and self-tanners are quite popular in this area. Check it out. lala |
Great idea for a thread- FT is great! I'm starting to plan for my next trip in a week to FRA on LH. So I'm looking for products I can pick up at local drugstore, for now. I had been hoping to take my L'Occitane samples for moisturizer during flight but someone already said they were taken away in U.S. somewhere. I'm hoping to put a few in my suit jacket pocket,in case. I really need eyedrops and saline nose spray on the long flights but I guess they are out, too. Lip balm is the other must-have for long flights and I was going to try my little metal tin of Shea butter from L'Occitane.

I recently bought some of these "spongeables" at drugstore.com. They look just like a regular sponge. Haven't tried them out yet.

Brush-ups work ok, but it's not a toothbrush. On a positive note, you can pick them up in any drugstore, and they are individually packaged.
J. R. Liggett makes a shampoo bar. I haven't tried it, but have used similar "bar" shampoo. They are convenient for camping, and won't spill in your suitcase on a plane! |

here's a product I've used before
Magellans 'toothettes'. A nicer way to clean your teeth.

Solid perfumes?
Apparently there are solid or stick perfumes - someone said Target was selling them.
I can't imagine they'd be much different in consistency than solid deodorant, though :-(. |
Lush products
... include solid shampoo and conditionner. Glad I bought some a few months ago.
