EU OKs Two Trans-Atlantic Airline Alliances
...The commission approved the 'Wings alliance' between KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Northwest Airlines Corp. (NasdaqNM:NWAC - News) . Those airlines didn't have to make any concessions. "Airline alliances generally present benefits for consumers but regulators must ensure that they do not result in the elimination of competition on specific routes," said Mario Monti, the E.U's antitrust chief, on winding up the six-year investigation. The commission in July said it would approve the two alliances providing that rival carriers didn't challenge its preliminary findings. http://biz.yahoo.com/djus/021029/0714000380_1.html |

Roger,
You could say, these airlines are NOT very progressive! But having NW an option to fly with CO partnership is nice! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |

FWIW, it appears that "Wings" is now, effectively "Skyteam", no?

This is about as easy to understand as the new ENHANCED CAL HoKeY upgrade policies. The BIG SIX airlines continue to look like the progressive economic policy of any 'Third World Power'.
