Here is a snippet:
Jan. 23--HOUSTON--If building airline alliances were child's play,
Continental Airlines would be perceived as having a toy that it's not ready
to share with friends.

The toy is Continental's Newark hub, which collects passengers from
across the country for direct flights to 35 cities in Europe. Next year
Continental opens a new billion-dollar passenger terminal in the middle of
the richest concentration of international travelers in the nation, making
Newark one of the coolest toys in the airline playroom.

Eagan-based Northwest Airlines and its European partner, KLM Royal
Dutch Airlines, would love to see Continental bring its new toy to its
yet-to-be-formally-announced Wings Alliance.

A nice summary of a complex subject. Thanks for posting it. Continental does indeed have a jewel in its' Newark hub (I would not of said this a few years ago). How to get the full value should be their first priority.

Let's hope they do. They have done a lot of good things lately. Bet this will be another.
