WestJet's "Care-antee"

We will not charge you for call centre bookings.
WestJet has never charged guests for calling into our Sales Super Centre to book a flight. So, if chatting with one of our friendly agents works better for you - give us a call at 1-800-538-5696.

We will not charge you to change or cancel your flight for 24 hours after you book.
We want you to book their flights with confidence knowing that if life throws you a curve ball and you need to change or cancel within 24 hours, no problem.

We will not overbook your flight.
It's common practice in the airline industry for more seats to be sold on a flight than actually exist. At WestJet, we promise that if you buy a seat on a flight - that seat is yours.

We will not charge you for two checked bags.
At WestJet we think it's reasonable to bring two checked bags. Just make sure they're within our size and weight limits. For details check out our baggage info page.

We will have the lowest change, cancel and pre-reserved seating fees in Canada.
We double checked and yep, our fees are the lowest.

We will accommodate you if your flight is delayed - even if it's Mother Nature's fault.
Our job is to get you where you are going. Even if that means buying you lunch or putting you up for the night.

We will fly you in the youngest all-jet fleet in North America.
No matter where you fly to or from you'll always fly on a Next-Generation Boeing 737 jet. The average age of our fleet is 4 years. Still got that new plane smell.

We will provide live seatback TV on our flights.
You can't watch live TV on any other Canadian airline because WestJet is the exclusive provider of live Bell TV. We also offer pay-per-view movies on some flights.

We will give you ample legroom and overhead bin space.
And by ample we mean 32 inches of leg room. We have lots of overhead storage space. Oh, and your little carry-on suitcase will most likely fit in the overhead bin (just make sure it weights less than 10 kg or 22 lb.) Don't worry, there's lots of room for everyone's stuff.

We will publish our on-time, lost baggage and cancellation rates.
We try hard to be on time, get your bags to you and fly the schedule we said we would. See for yourself, here are the numbers:
  • On-time performance is the percentage of flights that arrive within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time. Click here to see how we are doing.
  • Baggage ratio is the number of bags per 1,000 that also made it on time. The most recent WestJet baggage ratio is 995.77
  • The completion rate is the percentage of flights that actually flew (as opposed to ones we cancelled) The most recent WestJet domestic completion rate is 98.6%

We will always let you know how we're doing as a company.
We publish our load factors every month and our quarterly financial results every three months on our website. To see the numbers for yourself check out the Investor Relations section.

We will offer free online seat selection 24 hours before departure.
If you are flying within Canada and the U.S. you can check in online, select your seat, and print your boarding pass within 24 hours of departure.

We will allow you to transfer your credit files to friends or family for free.
That's right, folks - credit files are fully transferable.

We will give you free snacks and refreshments on your flight.
This includes an assortment of juices, soda, coffee, tea, cookies and our favourite, Bits and Bites.

We will always include smiles and thank yous. Always.
Don't worry, they're free.

And most importantly:

We'll always care. Because that's what owners do. Care-anteed.

Small Print
This is the spot where you normally find all the rules and conditions. But let's face it; stuff happens and things change. What we can promise is that we'll do our best and do it with a smile.

haha, the Care-Antee was VERY short lived. They came out with a huge national media campaign that they had to baggage fees, then AC implemented baggage fees, and they followed suit like 3 months later. Ah well, I still like WS.

The Care-Antee was the last major program before Sean Durfy left as CEO. It spawned the ugliest duckling 737: https://cdn.planespotters.net/photo/...1f13c8acb4.jpg that didn't look any better in French: https://cdn.planespotters.net/photo/...21e6d702eb.jpg but turned into a real swan: https://www.planespotters.net/photo/...b8593d9e3&sc=1
