Upgrades with a travelling companion

I have bid for an upgrade which probably won’t happen. However, if a couple is flying together are we at risk of them automatically upgrading only one of us. This has happened to me twice on AC and it creates a mess when one refuses the benefit.
Wondering if I should maybe withdraw the request.

If you are thinking of automatic upgrades based on your WJ Rewards status, they typically do not upgrade a high status member when they are travelling with other people, regardless of the companion(s) status.

As per the Upgrade Offer FAQs page:
If there are multiple guests on my bookings, do I have to make an offer for all guests?

Yes. You cannot split the booking. If your upgrade is accepted all guests will be upgraded.

Please make separate booking reservations if you would only like to upgrade specific people.
