The United First fares are pretty aggressive on this route, although I would probably combine United on the eastbound trip and WestJet on the west as WestJet departs IAD at 16:55 and United at 09:00.

The full summer schedule is being updated this weekend. The DL codeshares are already appearing in the GDS.

Some highlights Ive found so far:

YYC-ATL increased to 10x weekly, 3x red eye on days opposite of YVR-ATL. I cant remember the last time YYC had a scheduled US bound flight after pre-clearance closes?

YYC-SEA and YYZ-BNA fully move from encore to mainline.

Now that the schedule is fully filed in the OAG, I found some more changes. Lots of capacity added at YYC.

YYC-SEA jumps from 2x daily DH4 to 2x 737
YYC-SFO gains a mid-afternoon dep 3x weekly (17x weekly overall)
YYC-LAX increases to 3x daily
YYC-JFK increases to 6x weekly
YYC-DEN increases to 4x weekly
YYC-BNA increases to 4x weekly

YEG-LAX/LAS go daily.
YYC-PDX/YEG-SEA are the only Encore US routes left.

YYZ-BNA reduced from 1x daily DH4 to 3x weekly 737

Here are some of the new schedules:

WS1550 YYC 09:35 - 10:14 SEA 73W 357
WS1550 YYC 11:50 - 12:29 SEA 73W 1246
WS1554 YYC 17:55 - 18:34 SEA 73W Daily
WS1551 SEA 11:05 - 13:39 YYC 73W 357
WS1551 SEA 13:20 - 15:54 YYC 73W 1246
WS1555 SEA 19:25 - 21:59 YYC 73W Daily

WS1522 YYC 14:45 - 16:43 SFO 737 357

WS1992 YYC 23:50 - 06:08+1 ATL 737 246
WS1593 ATL 09:00 - 11:39 YYC 737 357

It is interesting that 14 of the 16 LGA slots now seem to have been ditched, most of the YYZ-LGA options are Delta Connection on a CRJ900 besides a single WS 737-700 operated daily round trip. I don't know if they have managed to sell the slots, able to let Delta use them, or if they are just lost due to lack of use, they originally paid USD$17.6m for them.

It appears they got a better slot pair at NRT as the schedule was also modified this weekend:

WS80 YYC 15:10 - 16:15+1 NRT 357
WS81 NRT 18:15 - 12:15 YYC 146

This could open the door to code-sharing with JL on additional Asian destinations.

I wonder if this is for the new joint venture application?

I thought Delta was forced to relinquish those slots to auction.

Delta did reliquish 32 and Westjet and JetBlue were the successful bidders, picking up 16 each and edging out Southwest amongst others. I was one of the IT people at the time at WS ensuring the systems and connectivity to the FAA bidding system was working as fast as possible, as the winning bids didn't go in until seconds before the slot auction closed.

Looking at the July 2023 flight times between YYZ and LGA, WestJet is flying one return flight and Endeavor Air on behalf of Delta Connection is operating 7 return trips as a WestJet codeshare. The thing is, based on 2022 data, Endeavor Air doesn't seem to have any slot times during the time of the WS codeshare flights, so they perhaps are using 14 of the WS slots for their flights. Perhaps there has been a sale of the WS slots, but the info hasn't shown up yet? Here is the slot report for summer 2022, the latest I could find available: https://cms.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/fi...s22-detail.pdf

It is actually an FAA document, not mine. LGA has no slot restrictions on Saturdays, so no slots need to be assigned, hence it is 0 assigned for all airlines.

Slots can be leased to others.

Perhaps this is what has occurred. 😉

if you want to play in the LGA sandbox, you have to operate a jet.

Turbo props simply dont cut it.

WS has never operated a turbo-prop to LGA. BOS sadly yes, LGA never.

The 737-600s used to be a staple on the YYZ-LGA route, but the Endeavor CRJ900s are a better fit.
