Am I reading the terms correctly for the Gold Elites.... really only good for single person reservations? So even if two golds are traveling on the same reservation, they are not eligible for upgrades? This just seems kind of useless to me.

If you are referring to complimentary upgrades, yes I believe that is the case, single traveller only. You would, however be eligible to purchase an upgrade 48 hours prior to flight as a gold member.
