LHR Flights and slot waivers
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not WS might not actually fly some of the currently scheduled LHR flights due to light loads? I think there is currently a slot waiver in place, so airlines need not worry about losing slots if they do not fly.
I am looking to book some London flights for late May and June and the new LHR service is appealing as LHR is better located to where we stay when in London. We have been using the LGW service, and have no issue with using that airport, but it is more convenient to use LHR. When I look at YYC-LGW (and back) flights PE and business have some of their seats occupied, but for the same dates the LHR flights have much less seats already occupied (one of the dates had zero PE seats occupied, even, and one or two business seats). Granted, the seat map itself is not foolproof, but I would probably just go with the LGW flights and get the seats we want if we go with PE versus booking LHR and then if the flights are cancelled be moved over to the other flights and then end up in the middle section (which we want to avoid). If we go with the business booking then the point is moot, but we have some companion passes to use up and they can't be used for business bookings (bah!) so we may slum it in PE for the extra savings.
I guess my one thought is that with the move to LHR, WS really wants to establish itself there so they might run even very empty flights to show they are serious even with the loss of revenue.

Given its only 4x weekly, I suspect WS will operate the full schedule to LHR. They've already cancelled YYC-LGW from March 26-April 30 to put sole focus on Calgary-London at Heathrow.
I think I read somewhere the UK intends to require 70% usage of slots for S22. (Which tells me by next winter, it will probably be back to 80%).
Another issue they may face is not having enough 787s to operate their planned schedule, given Boeing's delayed deliveries. So I guess we shall see how this plays out.

British government will extend the alleviation of airport slot rules through the summer season but is increasing the minimum usage threshold to 70%.
Ordinarily, carriers must operate slots 80% of the time to retain the right to use them following year. However, in response to the pandemic, the European Commission waived the “use it or lose it” rule for the summer 2020 and winter 2020/21 seasons.

What terminal are they using at LHR? I have a flight in May and it doesn't say which one.
I looked at the Heathrow website and it says T4, with a note that "All flights at Heathrow are currently operating from Terminals 2, 3 and 5. " Nice contradictory information!

Does anyone know whether or not WS PE passengers get Fast Track security at LHR? I know they do at LGW. A friend reports that the regular security line at T2 was horrendous this morning and even Fast Track had a 15 minute wait (not sure if T3 is the same, but I assumes so).
For anyone wondering, from gate to baggage claim was super speedy last week at T2. E-gates are terrific!

I don't believe so. I was in business and there was no mention of fast track at T3. We went through regular security and it wasn't that bad, perhaps 15-20 min to get through.

We will get there early and hope for the best. Unless something opens up at OLCI we will be in PE in any case.

Thanks! Regular security took us 25 minutes today around 11:00. It was basically painless.
We did notice that there is a Fast Track lane that states it is for “Business Class” pax, so I assume this would be ok for WS business pax. We were in PE, so didn’t bother seeing if we were eligible.
