Swoop gets a new president

WestJet today announced that Charles Duncan, WestJet Executive Vice-President in charge of cargo, will now add Swoop President to his title. Charles takes on the additional role starting April 17, 2020 as Steven Greenway steps down after two years.“Charles has been a valued member of the Executive team and his airline experience at the helm of WestJet Encore will be an asset to Swoop,” said Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO. “Charles takes on the role at a crucial time and we look forward to his guidance, energy and expertise as the WestJet Group weathers this crisis and then as we look to build off the success that Swoop has already achieved.”

Was this the guy who wanted crews to share hotel rooms?

Edit: Wait a second, how does one even staff Swoop at present if the pilots need damn near twenty years of seniority to keep their jobs and Swoop has it's own operating certificate?

While the departure of Steven Greenway is sudden is this maybe the end of his shorter-term role getting Swoop launched? His track record is that Swoop was the sixth start-up for the Australian native after previous stints as CEO of reward-U, the low-cost carrier loyalty program of HK Express, and chief commercial officer for Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ LCC.

Didn't help him that they Unionized with CUPE pronto. His job was also largely to keep the Union out. Instead it was almost immediate after Mainline FAs unionized. He also made several missteps at the start of the COVID-19 crisis which WS/WR did not. May be a part of it.
