YVR-HNL is also biting the dust after this weekend until the end of April. Surprisingly YYC-HNL has still survived the cuts for now, leaving YYC with the sole flight to the Hawaiian capitol from Canada.

Probably makes sense to run YYC-HNL with the modified quarantine as part of the pilot in AB and route YVR pax via YYC. Even in normal times, WS flew year round from YVR to Hawaii iirc.

But BC bound guests won’t be able to take advantage of the YYC testing pilot unless they have a place to stay for a full two weeks in AB, as per the requirements of the pilot.

Perhaps YYC is simply getting better bookings than YVR? Either way, I suspect YYC-HNL will also be dropped in a future update anyways.

Right, but BC residents are no worse off in terms of quarantine (as of right now, still need to quarantine 2 weeks at home). If WS chose to fly via YVR then no one could take advantage of the pilot.

Government announced new travel restrictions today and all Canadian airlines agreed to suspend flights to Mexico / Caribbean until April 30th. Also all international arrivals have to land at YYZ, YVR, YUL and YYC regardless of origin (previously this only applied to overseas arrivals).

Looks like flights to the US are staying put for now? Although I suspect those will be dropped too (at least the primarily leisure ones).

It's virtually a moot point as the YYC program was only ever designed to run until it achieved 52K participants and as of 28Jan. they're at 45K.

I was able to change my April YYZ-LIR flight reservation to the earliest available dates in May without a fare difference collection.

Looks like all of the US routes will be down to just once a week, except for YYC-PHX which is twice a week after next weekend. Kind of surprised their even bothering to keep the US routes alive at this point.

Also YVR-OGG appears to have been dropped after next Saturday, which means only YYC will have non-stop access to Hawaii for now. (once weekly flights to OGG & HNL still scheduled right through February).

Curiously watching LGW / CDG (both still currently scheduled from March 28th) now that the UK has extended the waiver through Summer 2021, and I'm imagine the EU will do so shortly too.

Oh sorry, meant to say slot waiver.

The UK extended it and won't enforce the 80/20 rule in Summer 2021
https://www.routesonline.com/news/29...t-slot-waiver/

However the EU has not yet, and has proposed enforcing at 40/60 rather than 80/20

March modified schedule has been filed and surprising OGG, HNL, PHX, PSP and RSW are all still scheduled! LAX appears to be kicking the can though.

Also LGW is now removed until May 5th and all other long haul routes are removed until June 5 (including CDG).

Scheduled update through May 4th has been filed in the OAG. Still planning limited Transborder schedule to PHX, PSP, OGG, and RSW. From May 1st it looks like they're planning to resume service to CUN, PVR, SJD and MBJ. Also YYC-OGG has been extended into May. (Route typically ends its season third week of April).

HNL operates until April 3rd.

They also removed many international/US routes until June. YYC-BOS even appears completely cancelled.

CALGARY — WestJet’s Director, Government Relations, Andy Gibbons, says WestJet has asked the federal government to phase out the 3-day hotel quarantine requirement for international travellers starting May 1, 2021.

“The hotel quarantine is a deterrent,” said Gibbons this morning.

Gibbons spoke alongside John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, WestJet, at a press conference announcing WestJet’s return to Atlantic Canada starting in June 2021.
--------------------------------

“It is our intention to fly internationally this summer,” said Weatherill.
