I advised Westjet via Twitter that their website was down for a number of the functions. A Westjet employee named Joy Twittered back that it was fixed and up and running when it was not. I Twittered her back that it was still down and she decided to just ignore me. Rude. Thats the problem with social media. Companies should respond should they like the conversation or not.

I've been having issues accessing my rewards account for the past two weeks or so now.

It is probably a case of your browser / operating system being old or incompatible.

I have just successfully logged in to my Rewards account and used basic site functions such as booking, with the following platforms that are all fairly current:

Windows 10.0.18362 Build 18362:
Firefox 70.0.1
Microsoft Edge 44.18362.449.0

Fedora 31 5.3.8-300 (Linux):
Google Chrome 66.0.3359.117
Firefox 70.0

iPhone, iOS 13.2.2:
Safari 13
WestJet App 4.9.1

iPadOS 13.2.2:
Safari 13
WestJet App 4.9.1

Sounds like you have an issue with your account, as opposed to a software compatibility issue. If it is a failed login only, you may need to do a password reset for your account, or you may have been the victim of credential stuffing (i.e. another website you have used in the past has been compromised and the credentials you use there are the same as the WS login and your account has been hijacked).

They obviously made a major update to their website. Depending on how they did it, it could cause problems at the endpoints like your version of the browser on your OS. Cleaning your browser cache helps.

If they changed their DNS entry or replatformed (e.g. data center to cloud) then it could take a while for the “internet” to catchup. DNS caches, search engines, etc. For example, Google search results will be wrong for 2-3 days and your local DNS cache (the local IP address of westjet.com on your computer) would be wrong.

This is bumpy when it happens, and there is little that a company can do to make it better when it happens. The distributed nature of the internet is why this happens, changes just aren’t instantaneous.
