New Policy: WS Upgrading Employees and Family First

I heard directly from a WS employee that they just announced a new policy that WS is upgrading employees and family members first. That is all the employee knew, that there could be a bunch of caveats to it ("first" could mean a bunch of different things), but I thought someone on here may have more details?

Hmm interesting. I’ve got about 18 flights this year domestically with WestJet, and I’ve been upgraded on 17 of them. If true then I guess that’s going to drop heh.

Gold and Platinum rewards members, if eligible and when seats available, will always get the opportunity to be upgraded first. There is a policy that’s just been announced for certain Westjetters to be upgraded, AFTER eligible loyalty members have been upgraded, space available.

Ah that makes sense.

Thanks. I figured there was some sort of clause regarding loyalty members first but the employee didn’t recall.

This isn't new, employees standbys & anyone they're travelling with generally will be upgraded to any open premium seats.

I think the point the OP was making was that (s)he was under the impression that non revenue guests were upgraded BEFORE revenue guests, which isn’t the case.
