Semi-related. Sounds like they will be announcing in the next couple weeks that Platinum guests will be eligible for upgrades with a regular Econo ticket, not just EconoFlex. The Econo Basic fare won’t qualify you though.

Flight was originally scheduled as 737 and only changed to 787 a month out. As a result, it appears as though nobody bought a Business seat, so chances of a status upgrade were high (rather than doing a bid or paid check-in upgrade).
