One work-around would be to get a BRIM Financial no-fee credit card; it comes with a all-inclusive Boingo account included. I used it YVR-YYZ a few days ago while my seatmate paid the WS fee.

Does the credit card terms and conditions indicate Boingo is free in all circumstances (as opposed to just on-ground use), as they say $0.23 per minute is chargeable for in-flight use unless explicitly waived by the program conditions? https://support.boingo.com/s/article...inflight-Wi-Fi
