miss first flight segment but continue on second?

My friend is travelling LGA-YYZ-YVR. She'll be in Toronto already as she needs to travel there earlier with work and they're paying for her flight.
If she misses the LGA-YYZ segment, can she show up and fly the YYZ-YVR segment still or will WJ cancel the entire reservation?

I've instructed her to call and check but for curious if anyone has had experience with this on WJ.

She will need to call and change her reservation, unfortunately, as she would be a "no-show" for the first segment, and hence offloaded from the continuing segment, based on the conditions of carriage:-

"when a round trip or multi-segment reservation has been made and a passenger is a no show for his or her reservation for the first segment, the Carrier will cancel the return portion or the continuing portion of the Passenger’s reservation without notification. All monies for the remaining segments are forfeited and no compensation shall be issued."

The tariff details can be found here: http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/tariffs.shtml

Thanks for the information! Figured this was the case.
Now I wonder if they're charging her a fee to change the booking for one-less segment. Will find out and let you know!

There will be a change fee, but it is quite likely that any credit for the removed segment can cover that cost.

Apart from fare changes and fees, there will be additional third party and taxes and fees, too. Higher YYZ Aiport Fee, Canadian security tax, 13% HST, minus US taxes.

And then there is WestJet's "fuel surcharge", which is charged on YYZ-YVR, but apparently not on LGA-YYZ-YVR.

Please let us know how it works out for your friend.

So she called WJ and they said they can modify the booking with at $250 change fee, or cancel the booking for $75 and rebook the flight herself.
She cancelled it and just booked another flight with a different airline since it was cheaper via the USA, taking the remainder of the flight to her travel bank.
