Passenger’s Sexist Note Left on WestJet Flight Stirs Pilot’s Heated Response

"The cockpit of an airliner is no place for a woman."

"I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm, so I can book another flight!"

Comments left on a napkin aboard a YYC->YYJ WestJet flight prompted the captain of the flight herself to respond. Carrie Steacy, a pilot of 17 years, was "shocked" when she was informed of the napkin message.

As a woman, I am less "shocked" and more annoyed. What century are we currently living in?

Whoever wrote this does have a good point..........I've been on way to many flights piloted by women, and on almost every one of those flights we had to divert cuz she just popped out a baby right there in the left seat

I've come to expect reactions like that when flying in the Middle East and Asia, but cannot fathom someone making a remark like that in Canada. Ridiculous.

This is ONE nutcase... why does a blatantly stupid comment from ONE moron make folks question "what century we are living in"?

Treat the comments with the contempt they deserve.... and move on!

Hey.. with luck said moron will refuse critical medical treatment from a female Physician!

Unfortunately, there still is a minority with an outlook stuck in the 50's.

Actually, the napkin makes sense. Women, as everybody knows, can't drive either (they're too cautious, indecisive, incite road rage) and so, what makes anyone think they can fly an airliner? Do you want a guy to wear panties? People are built differently. Would you want to drive a chick car such as VW Bug to 4 wheel around with Jeeps?

It's a note on a napkin, I think I would have given it the homage that it deserves and had a good blow.
