Things to do in Phoenix
Hey all...
Thinking of taking a road trip to Phoenix/Scottsdale area... since we have a place up there. The last time I was in PHX, we went to the science museum, the "fashion district" or whatever that mall is called, and ate alot of really good food. What are other some fun things the under 21 crowd can do while we are there? |
My wife and i just did Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesen West tour when we were there last week. If you like architecture its interesting.

Sit and wait on a your AmWest errrr.. I mean US Air connection... hehe
|
Sit in your car, with the windows rolled up out in the sun. Just like a sauna! Ahhhhhhh.
|
When the sun goes down drive out to the north Scottsdale area to a place called Greasewood Flats. Out there you can eat a great burger, drink a cold beer, do the desert two step and listen to some good o'le honky tonk music.:) http://www.greasewoodflat.net/

There are other, tougher trails. The Desert Botanical Garden is an easy hike. Horseback riding is also possible. I like to ride in the Tonto National Forest. |

Drive out to Fountain Hills and see the worlds tallest fountain. It goes off every hour on the hour for 15 minutes unless it is windy.

Here are two handy references:
arizonaguide.com and azcentral.com Since it is a bit toasty, most people head up north to escape the heat. Don't know if you are tied to Scottsdale area (though it sounds like you are based on accommodations). Going under that assumption, here is what I recommend: -Day trip to Sedona (Slide Rock State Park) -Visit one of the City of Chandler Water parks -Try Big Surf in Scottsdale -Scottsdale does have a drive-in (McKellips and Hayden), which might be fun if it is not too hot for you (even at nite it could easily be 100 deg. F at 10PM) |

That probably was Fashion Square.

Please don't go hiking. During this time of year our news channels are always filled with reports of our rescue services having to pluck some tourist off some mountain. It's amazing how a bottle of Dasani makes people feel invincible.
Pinnacle Peak is hardly a mountain. Not being able to "hike" the Desert Botannical Garden (and yes, the convention and visitors bureau classifies this as a "hike," albeit an easy one) regardless of the temperature, would indicate that one is in poor physical condition. By the way, if it is so dangerous, then why are these trails OPEN during the heat? |
Four Peaks? Whats the name of that little peak in the middle of PHX, Scotsdale and Tempe? Great hike. I did at 10 AM in August, a little hot, but it should be manageable to do it earlier.

I am staying for 5 days in Phoenix, and I will arrive there in 2 weeks. What things must be seen in Phoenix?
I will be staying from Nov 10-15 - any special events taking place in Phoenix at that time? What are the best shopping malls, or shopping areas? Is there a good factory clearance/discount mall? |
