Surprised by the Space Needle
I had lunch this weekend in the restaurant at the top of the Space Needle. I went with a healthy dose of skepticism. Food service at tourist destinations rarely excels. And the prices at locations which offer great views are usually excessive. Neither turned out to be the case, and I definitely recommend this restaurant. For $29 more than the cost of just going to the observation deck, I got a three-course breakfast that would have been very presentable at a stand-alone restaurant. At this price and with the view there, it was a delightful surprise indeed!

We had this thread: The view is great, the food is not
discussing dining in this kind of place around the world. It was started by someone who's opinion of the Space Needle's food was the opposite of yours. Perhaps you could pursue this in the US forum related to Seattle (West???)or alternatively ask a moderator to rename your thread so that it discusses good dining in the World's landmarks. |
Glad to hear about your good dining experience. I've often been let down by the dining spots with the top reputations. Sometimes the "lousy" restaurants will surprise you.

As a native Seattlelite, I have to disagree with the assesment of the Space Needle's food. I have never walked away pleased as there is always a let down at some point in time. I feel like the whole thing is a bit cheesy. I do like hearing that you had a nice time in Seattle though :) |

Glad you had a good experience. I often entertain business associates from out of town, and they often request the Space Needle. I cannot say I share your enthusiasm for the place (to be fair, we typically go for dinner, I have never tried breakfast there). The view is great, however.

I went there a few years ago and found the food to be quite nice, and the service was a step up from most american restaurants.
