Need Help in Tahoe

Going to Tahoe in December. Never been there. Looking for help from anyone that may have stayed somewhere nice. Let me know about any Centurion upgrades available.
Thanks.... :) :)

You don't say where in Tahoe -- it is sharply divided between North Shore and South Shore. North Shore is a lot nicer but is mostly residential (few hotels). Hyatt is pretty much the closest to a luxury hotel at Tahoe that is publicly available. South shore is where all the casinos are. Personally I prefer skiing at Alpine Meadows and stay at Granlibakken which has some interesting character and scenery http://www.granlibakken.com/

You have not received a lot of responses to your question. This may may be because this forum is mostly confined to discussions of the "frequent stay" programs, policies and offerings of hotel chains that do not have their own individual forums.

You might want to ask a moderator if your thread can get moved to this forum:

FlyerTalk Forums > Travel&Dining > Travel&Dining: Destination >> United States > West

where you might get more responses. Direct link:

I've stayed in Tahoe, but not anywhere nice, so I can't help you.

If you want a nice place to stay, I would suggest the Resort at Squaw Creek.

I would agree that this is the best resort property at either end of the lake. The only negative is that it is a bit isolated from most other attractions except the skiing. But since nearly everything you might want is already there (except gambling), you may not feel the need to go elsewhere.

If you happen to end up in South Tahoe, my restaurant suggestion would be Evans on highway 89 just north of the "T".

I would very heartily concur. We had an anniversary dinner there and it was lovely, very good food, very nice atmosphere, great owner/staff.

If you are interested in a condo, Brockway Springs is great (Kings Beach, North Tahoe). Lanza's is a fantastic Italian restaurant just down the road. The Crystal Bay Casino (just north in NV) is kind of cheesy, but their Steak House has great food and service (although not cheap). Then, over to the Lone Eagle Grille at the Hyatt in Incline Village (again, not cheap).

Harrah's on the south shore is a great hotel. All rooms have two bathrooms with mini TVs. Their casino is also nice although the gaming has gone way downhill in recent years. The south shore is much busier and touristy than the north shore. The Hyatt on the north shore is also very nice and in a quieter area if that's what you're looking for, although their casino is pretty poor.
