Plus, you can have a drink in the bar before your table is ready and be entertained watching the goldiggers hunt their prey.

El Chorro Lodge - Paradise Valley
One of our favorites is El Chorro Lodge in Paradise Valley
Super service, world renowned sticky buns and a nice menu with something for everyone. Ummmmm! At this moment, I am sitting in Plano, TX but believe that I will call now and make reservations at El Chorro for tonight. Here is a blatent pitch for several home town "goodies"; Fountain Hills is next to Scottsdale and hosts two nice art fairs. You're missing the Winter fair by one day. Caroline's at the Fountain Alchemy at Copperwynd EuroPizza Cafe' (Great Italian food, not just pizza!) |
I just went to Flemings in Scottsdale for the first time. What is up with the steaks here? It was horrible. I've been to the one in Orange County and I remember it was great.
Is there something wrong with this location or is it one of those one in awhile bad experiences? I have to say the bar scene was good though. |
I just got back from Phoenix, and I must be a real snob, because I found so many of the restaurants to be chain-y type places, and really was missing New York on that score. :D
But I would recommend Hamburger Mary's on 7th Street between Indian School Road and Camelback Road (IIRC) - nothing too original, but very high quality food and a great price! Yummy, yummy - I got a Cobb salad one night which was excellent, and a Proud Mary burger another night - it must have been a whole pound of ground sirloin - couldn't eat it with your hands, you need a fork and steak knife, it's so big. But excellent! For whatever reason, I was not that impressed with In-N-Out, but as I mentioned to someone else, that may be because that location (at 27th and Yorkshire) was having a bad night, or I was expecting something unrealistic...? I just didn't find it that wonderful. Honestly, there seem to be too many burger/fry/shake places in Phoenix. The plus part of that is that they do burgers/fries/shakes well. :) |
Any new suggestions? Looking for a nice leisurely Saturday dinner.

A trip to Phoenix isn't complete without stops at Richardson's and Ted's!

Cowboy Ciao's sister restaurant Digestif ^ ^
And if you need a leisurely breakfast Sunday morning... The Breakfast Club is also a winner. |
Just had a great dinner Saturday night at House of Tricks in Tempe - wonderful atmosphere/outside dining, food delicious.
