Tucson hotel suggestions?
 

My meeting is at the University, we have reservations at the Marriott, but Taller Half is interested in something more "non-chainy". This meeting is about all day field trips,so we'll be exhausted at the end of the day. I don't really care where we stay as long as it has a gym, high speed internet and I might be able to get a gov't rate.

Any suggestions?

I'm there now on $110/night for a room that is regularly $369/night. I'm glad I'm not paying the normal rate. Also, no high-speed networking here...

Could you elaborate? I personally couldn't afford to pay $369/night anywhere and use hotel points for these expensive properties. Would it be worth it to stay using Starwood points?

I Pricelined the hotel which is why I paid only $110/night. The shower didn't drain, housekeeping skipped our room, and the room sounded like it was constructed from rice paper.

Westward Look
 

I live here so I haven't stayed in any local hotels, but I'm helping to put together a conference and we selected the Westward Look Resort as the primary hotel for the conference.

These are all great suggestions, but the Marriott is at 119/night so I was hoping to get something equivalent. I don't think you can get a resort on a gov't rate can you?

Priceline is the way to go, check out www.betterbidding.com for all available hotels and resorts offered through Priceline with the approximate cost. I am staying at the Omni Golf Resort for $75 a night in a month. A great rate when the room is going for $299 a night. There are some very good properties for not a lot of money to be had this way. Let me know if you need any help with Betterbidding or anything else. :)

Are you paying or is this being paid for by the Government? As long as you can do the booking you can get the resort at below the usual Government rate. I book using a credit card in someone elses name and there is no problem with Priceline.

Don't rely on just Betterbidding as their information is lacking. They have no listings for the Tucson Central and La Paloma - Ventana Canyon zones. You should also refer to http://www.biddingfortravel.com/.
